I really enjoyed it,

Spoiler:
so was John Hurt an old version of the 8th Doctor or a completely separate regeneration. Would have been nice if chris eccleston appeared (not just through edited clips)
?

KM- find and watch Night of the Doctor.

Oh damn, well that answered that. Even showed a

Spoiler:
young Hurt. So was his codename "warrior", as I know he was the Doctor no more
. So I guess that answers my questions. That's pretty sweet they did that

Since I don't know what the spoiler policy is for this episode, my entire post will have the spoiler tags

Spoiler:
So going by what we saw in this episode, doesn't the ordering of the Doctors need to change now? Moffat and the show itself said that the ordering would stay the same as the War Doctor wasn't really a "Doctor", but this episode basically redeemed him in the eyes of Smith (who'se the one keeping count untill Capaldi takes over). They even outright stated that he was a Doctor...

Nevermind credits list him as War Doctor

It was very cool, wasn't it?

In fact I am surprised

Spoiler:
McGann
didn't do some dialogue for Day of the Doctor as well, seeing as his Doctor turned up and he would have been around to do it.

Meanwhile- I recommend people now go see 'The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot', which is Peter Davison's (5th Doctor) half hour skit on him and the other classic docs not doing the special. Played for laughs, it has just about everyone connected with the show in it and more. Go see now. Some fans are rating it higher than the actual anniversary.

The only problem is, despite the obvious goodwill all around from both the classic Docs and the current Docs/writers, it maybe hits a little too close- they should have been able to have some role in it, even if voice only!

Spectacular; thanks!

Yeah that one was awesome, rating i higher than the episode itself though is absurd.

Anyone seen that short with Doctor's 5,6 & 7 trying to be part of Day of the Doctor special

Thanks Kazenji, though that was actually what we were just talking about above your post.

Really, really enjoyed the episode, though I'm a massive Tennant Doctor fan, so that obviously tied in to it (even if I dislike Rose). All in all, a really nice episode I thought, and it showed the writers as not being afraid to take risks.

Nice to see flashes of the other Doctors (not to mention the new one).

Oh well, Now everyone else can see it for those that haven't yet.

The episode was, in many ways, and imo, perfect:

Spoiler:
1. We got a daffy story with wormholes and Queens and weddings and fezzes straight out of the best DW.
2. AND a completely epic story that was tied together organically with elements from throughout the plot.
3. It found ways to reference nearly every iconic character in the show's history. The Brig, several old companions, every single Doctor, Jack Harkness, all got mentioned or cameos, if only as pictures.
4. It tied back through the entirety of the "reboot," and tied together strains that we saw as far back as the first episode of the reboot (Bad Wolf).
5. Recontextualized David Tennant's already-iconic final words as the Doctor, giving them a sinister new twist.
6. Found a badass way to introduce Capaldi, if only as some glowering eyes in the climax scene.
7. Insinuates that the Doctor...what, becomes Tom Baker again at some point in his future? Even if that's an erroneous interpretation, what an exciting Moffat-esque twist to keep us hooked!
8. Gave us a built-in storyline for some future season with the search for Gallifrey.
9. Oh, and the girl with the scarf. Besides the revealed implication that it might literally be Baker's scarf once we see him, her character was a sendup of every overzealous Doctor Who fan. She pleaded for the Doctor to save her, wore a scarf like she was attending a Comic Con, and hyperventilated when the Doctor spoke to her. It was actually a rather pointed jab at fans, but without that bite it wouldn't have had the comic value. As it is, he was able to successfully write "stereotypical DW fan" into the script, if unofficially.

This will go down as one of my favorite episodes ever, right along with Utah (S6 opener), the decidely fan-service-y but still epic endings to Season 4 and Tennant's run, and various episodes with similarly brilliant structures.

Day of the Doctor was excellent. Couldn't have been happier and I didn't even watch the latest season.
Extremely looking forward to the new Doctor though. Capaldi was awesome in The Thick of It. We need a grumpy mean Doctor again.

I liked the episode...but it's not as great as everyone keeps saying, they changed everything, smith is the

Spoiler:
the 12th doctor. I thought they killed Jack off but I don't think they have. The bit with the zygons was a bit stupid too, like the camera angles and didn't really have much point in the story which seemed all over the place. I liked that they added Peter in there, that was a great moment but now the doctor hasn't destroyed his planet anymore but saved it. Was John Hurt regenerating into Eccleston?

Nope they haven't (assuming you're talking about Harkness), he's alive and kicking (in America last we saw him). Also if you believe in the Face of Boe theory, then we know that he will at least live until the hospital seen in New^16 York.

I'm not sure I follow, you list this as a bad thing or just a general statement? Irregardless, I think that's a great move!

Yes.

It's a general statement,

Spoiler:
I think it could be used in the future since now we discover that with Capaldi the doctor is in fact on his last life. Or is he? Cause I'm wondering if John Hurt was an aged 8th doctor who outlived that body and regenerated from age much like the first doctor did. But once the doctor dies on his final regeneration maybe the time lords can bring him back or something. I guess now the doctor is no longer the last time lord in the universe left. Just to clarify, before the episode the doctor did in fact destroy his planet a long with the daleks yes? Cause my girlfriend thinks that all along he had frozen the planet in time

Ah, you obviously hasn't seen the minisode entitled "Night of the Doctor"! It's six minutes long and aired last week just a few days before Day of the Doctor. It explains your question explicitly.

Your girlfriend is right,

Spoiler:
the Doctor has not changed his own timeline, he now simply knows what really happened. This is reaffirmed when Hurt states that he will not remember these last events, so when he regenerates into Eccleston he remembers taking the moment, and that Gallifray is gone. So his post-war trauma that Eccleston went through will still happen.

It actually also makes sense with The End of Time, come to think of it. That episode jives a bit better now than it does when the Doctor thought he
