Official Doctor Who Thread

First of all, I DID note what you said about the effects, and I stand by what I said.

Secondly, your second comment is breathtaking. The viewing figures I gave are accurate. They are from the system that has always been used to calculate viewing figures in this country, for a very long time now. Where the heck are your made-up figures coming from? For you to just take our viewing figures system and say you cannot trust it just because a lot of people watched an episode you didn't like is exceptionally poor going on your part. Shame on you- extreme shame indeed. Incidentally they are sourced independantly, not by the BBC, and reported in press as a matter of analysis between BBC and ITV viewing figures. They have always been trusted by all media-interested companies as the only dependable guide we have for viewing habits in this country. The BBC trusts it, ITV trusts it, Sky trusts it, Virgin trusts it, the papers trust it, the entire industry trusts it, and bases whether their programmes are successful based on it, and make future programme planning based on it... oh, but YOU don't trust it? Oh, big frigging deal.

Seriously... you should be ashamed of yourself for that.

As for how many liked it- the appreciation figures will be through soon; judging by Who's past form they will be high.

I hope we don't see the level of stupidity you have shown repeated much in this thread.

As do I, moving on.

So what? but I will except what you say.

Don't try pulling that one on me. 😛

The answer to 'so what' is that you raised the point of how many of those watching liked it. The appreciation figures will give you that answer, that is what.

Alright you say you know all about this. We know who is watching what ever, but do these people have a box with buttons, yes I liked it and no I did not?

Effectively yes, though they actually rate it out of 10.

On the other hand, Who results tend to get the same average every time as people tend to give ratings to the show as a whole rather than the individual episode.

Thank you for clearing that one up Ushgarak, point taken.

Happy New Year to you. 😄

So that means a large gay audience and shitloads of Mr n Mrs average totted up the figures.
If that means more of that tripe thats a shame as its no reflection on how the regular series works and who watches.

You know, you always say this sort of thing, like it's bad that gay people and average people who don't generally watch the show do. It's really rather annoying. What does who someone is have to do with whether or not they like a TV show?

Also, I sort of thought that the new series was supposed to be more or less a continuity restart from the original series and not have much to do with it? I mean, that's what I've always been told.

Well there is quite a big gap, the time war was one thing another regeneration into Doctor 9.

yeah im always commenting on the viewing habbits of "the Gays"

?

im just stating that a large portion of people who watched the xmas special are not the usual viewers
much like myself who watched eastenders on xmas day and never usually do otherwise

a lot of the gays watched Who for Kylie last Tuesday
its a fact

as for the restart i suppose ,Sarah Jane,K 9,the 5th Doctor,Roger Dellgado sound clip prior to the Masters awakening ,sea devil and axon referances and the illustrations of past Doctors in John Smiths diary blow your other comment out the water

And the Cyberman in the museum you forgot that, the old classic Cyberman head.

Well, not, it doesn't really blow my point out of the water at all. If they had tried to actually explain things off and connect it to the original series, then YOU might have a point, but as it stands, that's not the case. Sarah Jane and K9? Former companions. Daleks and Cybermen and all that? Bad guys. The Master? The Doctor's nemesis.

That is all the explanation that was given for any of them, though. They don't make it follow any of the previous continuity from the original series or the movie at all.

Nope the Master is a bad guy, Daleks are the Doctor's nemesis.

Well, they both are, kinda.

Though really I was just looking to not use the same word/phrase twice in a row 😛 my point still stands.

Well the Daleks have always been known to be the Doctors main villains, they appeared back in the early William hartnell Doctor years, the first Doctor along with the Cybermen, the master did not appear until Pertwee's Doctor.

But how does that change anything I said? I know that.

But still, when they were all introduced it was nothing more than "oh yeah, someone I traveled with/enemy I hate/insane Time Lord" etc. Nothing is explained at all beyond that.

Even the Daleks, who DO get some explanation, it's nothing to do with the original series - the Time War is something completely new.

I never was against your point, the other guy was, I already said the time war and the Doctors regenration were knew, that and he became a coward.

How do you justify calling him a coward?

Petrifyed of the Daleks and pleading with them.

Actually that was the wrong use of words sorry about that.

I see. The Doctor has lived far longer than you and I, been to more places and times then we can fully imagine, and fought in a Time War that shattered him inside, and you call him a coward? Nothing to do with the Daleks makes him a coward. It makes him a survivor who has been torn inside-out, so yes whenever he meets the remnants of the Daleks he is going to not act as he did in the old stories. But I don't recall him pleading with them like you say.
