USH'S LORD OF THE RINGS GAME PART 3- The Tournament and the Traitor

Well that makes a lot of difference, I agree.

How about a double flank, with the Ellothiel/Talin combination doing as before, but this time with Anglomir and Menelacar doing the same?

That could certainly put down two targets faster and allow us to focus on the other two.

I think that sounds like a good idea as well.

Except it wouild leave two of you flanked from the other attackers unless they concentrate their attacks also.

Indeed it will - I assume one will be Talin, the other Menelacar or Anglomir.

Very risky, that. What if Ellothiel kept running circles around one combatant? That would keep us all with one target and she could feasibly use the bonuses to bring down hers quickly.

You can't attack someone whilst run ing incircles around them, and in any case he would just turn to face her.

You have no guarantees they will focus their attacks, although taking down Talin is becoming a bt of a mark of honhour for contestants.

Well, we have four tactics so far:
1. The same we've used in the last two rounds, with Ellothiel flanking while Talin takes on two.
2. An adaption of this, with Anglomir(?) taking on two while Menelacar flanks.
3. We each take one each, but Ellothiel, Anglomir and Menelacar go full defensive trusting in Talin to finish his guy quickly then start doubling up.
4. Simple - take one each and go for it.

Any other suggestions?

I guess not! Well, here are the current stats:

At this point, I will remind people that axes get a +5 bonus against metal armour, a -5 against non-metal. For the two handed variant it is +10 or -10. I plain forgot Talin was using an axe (I just read it as a concussion weapon (note your Arnorian opponent is not a Dwarf and hence is using his axe as an edged weapon)) and was not applying his penalty. Lucky for you, eh?

(also do remember that shortswords get a bonus against non-metal armour- low Offensive Bonus characters may wish to consider this, especially against Dunlendings and Orcs who rarely go heavily armoured. Well, not the type of Orcs you are likely to meet anyway)

Menelacar: 43 (1he)/5 (C/Shield)/0/74

Talin: 66 (1hc/axe)/15 (C/Shield)/5/82

Ellothiel: 20 (1he)/10 (C/Shield)/20/33

Anglomir: 45 (1he)/5 (C/Shield)/10/82

Arnorian A: 60 (1hc)/0 (C/Shield)/63

Arnorian B: 60 (1hc)/0 (C/Shield)/57

Arnorian C: 60 (1he/axe)/0 (C/Shield))/60

Arnorian D: 60 (2h/axe)/0 (C/Shield))/60

Well I would still like to work out our tactics before saying who will go for who. Perhaps give it the weekend?

My vote is that we all take on a single opponent, with Anglomir going for opponent B.

Remember they can flank you if you are doing that.

Btw, omission above, their Manoeuvre is -5

Menelacar will go for D.

Oh, I think I worded that poorly. I meant that we each fight one person.

Looks like Talin will lay in Arnorian C.

Oh, I gotcha, Anglomir. Just leaves Ellothiel then!

Personally, I'd really rather have Ellothiel flanking someone else's attacker than directly facing someone herself...

Ah, well, which one?

Talin's target, I suppose!

OK so I'm thinking we needed to sort this out, like a week ago.

That leaves Arnorian A free to attack anyone he likes.

Menelacar will attempt to Talin style hold down A and D simultaneaously. Just hurry up and mash B & C!
