USH'S LORD OF THE RINGS GAME PART 3- The Tournament and the Traitor

Can William see any cracks in the wall or something that might be better for listening?

Afraid not- pretty sturdy.

The rest of you are nervous. It's been a long time with nothing happening.

Hmm. Maybe listening at the door to his suite would be more effective. William could probably sneak past the guards that are protecting his room.

Any of Elendur's Pals in the Inn? What do they look like? Who else is in the Inn?

They have gone to various other rooms, and the Inn is full of the normal patrons.

Abandoning the window, William?

Well, time goes by so I have to rule that events have overtaken you a little.

As William gets back down to the base of the building, someone swings an axe at his face.

Perception rolls from those of you outdoors- just Ellothiel I think- to get any sort of notice of this.

Oh good lord.

Well, Ellothiel has a Perception of 26 (though it says 25 on there, I think that was just a copying error as it doesn't take into account the bonus point from my template), so I'll take that roll...

You roll... 40, making a 66. A basic pass- note it in the thread. Could have been better!

Hmm... you heard something around the corner there...

William yelps as the axe nearly makes this Hobbit a foot shorter than he ought to be. Not having the distance necessary for his bow and arrow or even a good throw of his iron balls, and lacking any confidence with his knife, Will will try to duck away from his attacker and get a look at him.

(But yes, I was going to get down from the window.)

Luckily, your Perception is high enough that you did indeed see the first blow in time, and dropped off the wall in time to avoid it.

Now you are in a fight- a cloaked man wielding a handaxe stands before you in the darkness, ready to split your skull.

How does one run from said fights and lure the axe murderer toward a friendly face, or at least get enough distance to draw bead on this cloaked fellow with an arrow or twelve?

Running from a melee foe gives him an attack on you with a huge bonus.

Bad idea, then.

William will draw his knife and try to stay defensive unless he finds an opening with which to strike back at his axe-wielding foe.

Ellothiel is going to cautiously check around the corner, stringing her bow just in case.

Your best melee skill is 2? Oh crap... That makes your defence rather puny, though I don't actually see that listed on your sheet... it's 25, based off your Agility- phew! That is increased to 27 by your mighty defensive skills.

Body Development 6?! That' must be the unadjusted value... even a Thief can't be at 6 at level 2, and Hobbits are hardy. Thieves have a by-level value of 6, which is 9 for you as you took Pain Resistant. S0 that is 6*9 +15 for Constitution- a not at all bad 69!

(Learn to use a melee weapon ASAP!!!!)

His attack skill is 40, which gives him +13 on his roll. He rolls 63, giving him a 76. Against Rigid Leather, that's 3 concussion hits from your stamina. He doesn't hit you, but you get a heavy barge from his swing as you get out of the way.

Ellothiel- you see the man attacking William. There is another n a side alley, raising a throwing axe, about to throw it into William's back. He has not seen you.

Ellothiel is going to take aim and shoot at the one in the side alley, who she is going to assume William hasn't seen yet himself. Not aiming to kill, since it's difficult to get answers from a corpse, but trying to disable him and keep him from attacking us.

You can't strike to disable with a lethal weapon.

Booo. Oh well. Stopping the attack is sort of a higher priority at the moment, then, I suppose.

Can the guys in the Inn help? Or Talin or Gwilwileth, who are also outside?
