And so our duel kicks off!"
(blows dust off of LOTR combat tables)
Ok, Ellotheil's base duelling score is 35 (that is half her 1h-edged score, plus agility bonus, plus Lightning Reflexes, which has already counted for two points because it is part of her 1-h score, but there you go). Her defence is 20- neat.
Darvan as a 1h-edged of 40, halved to 20, plus an Agility bonus of 20 gives a base of 40, plus Lightning Reflexes for 45. His defence is 25.
So, 35 and 20 vs. 45 and 25. Neither character is a hardcore warrior, so this is an interesting fight of he smart crowd. Darvan's level on Ellothiel is a telling edge, though.
(btw, I forgot to add- and please feel free to change if you wish- you can fight this match using double weapons if you wish; the combat rules tell you how those work. Some combatants here are known for fighting with a longsword and dagger).
Combat moves are notated as (Defence allocated/move)
Opening moves are:
Ellothiel: 0/Outflank
Darvan: 45/Classic
Darvan wins and so gets a +20.
Much to Ellothiel's presumed irritation, Darvan seems to be playing with her, as he deliberately back-foots and puts everything into defence. The telling smile he gives when he does this gives a lot away.
Now, although those 'Hit' rules may look somewhat complex, on the combat tables it boils downb to a very simple equation- score 85 or more on your roll, and you have a hit.
Ellothiel's opening 92 is a good blow indeed. But Darvan has left her with -70 to hit, and rather easily feneds her off.
Darvan himself rolls a 49, but isn't even trying to hit, basically.
No hit, and an interesting clash of swords there, as Ellothiel tried to work around Darvan and he just keeps his guard close and twists.
