"What got you asking about his father?" asks Gorlim.
(Menelacar will be using all of his charismatic charm to get this information)
"I would say the background of one of the potential suspects has everything to do with the investigation, especially as, given your reaction, there is obviously something to find out. Given what was at stake here, my lord - a traitor in the King's Council - I would have thought you would be more helpful."
"Damn your impertinence!" says Gorlim. "This is my country, you don't think I realise what is at stake? Do not assume to lecture me, Gondorian! Annuneryn's father is a private matter that has nothing to do with the issues at hand!"
---
"It is not for you to guess the King's motives or actions," says Morsire, sharply.
"Please forgive me, My Lord, I only wanted to understand your position. You think that people and Lords of Arthedain must rely on themselves, and it is certainly logical view. But I think that it is a bit too harsh not to believe that some outsiders have good intentions.
I wonder, what do you think about future of Arthedain and current issues it has to face?."

"Menelacar has reason to suspect Annueryn to be the traitor, and we wish only to gather as much information as we can about the man."
"Indeed. I had no wish to be insulting at all. Far from it, as it is my wish as a fellow Dunedan to get to the bottom of this treachery for the sake of all men, Gondorian or Arnorian. However, it is also in my remit as part of the investigation, granted authority by King Arvedui himself, to suspect all members of the council and to investigate any motives for treachery at all."
"Now, as there is obviously something behind Lord Annuneryn and his father that you don't wish me to know, I will have to attend to the matter elsewhere. I assure you, Lord Gorlim, that the matter in question, providing it has no bearing on the investigation, will not be passed further than myself or Anglomir here. But I will find out what it is."
"The young Lord obviously looks down on those Dunedain who are not of pure blood - he insinuated that much himself - perhaps the secret is linked to that? You are aware, of course, how deeply we Gondorians have suffered from those views."
"In any case. If you are refusing to answer my questions, I shall have to seek an appointment with someone else who might."
(Heh, yes we do! Everyone on the Council is a suspect except for Gorlim and Farael and the King himself, I believe...)
Talin will mosey on over to where Morsire seems to be chastising an Elf.
"Good day, your Royal Highness, your Lordship," Talin says, bowing deeply to the Prince, then more slightly to Lord Morsire. He wears a positive, cheerful grin. "Enjoyin' the tournies, are we? That archery display was quite impressive."
Morsire is not friendly. Gorlim IS. He's been notably friendly, but he has taken severe offence to Menelacar's tone, implying that he dos not care about the situation. He's Chamberlain to the true King of the Dunadain and he's not going to be lectured to by a minor foreign noble.
Gorlim is very old school but he's a politician foremost and he takes his work seriously. You just need to treat him right. That's diplomacy!
---
"Take it from me," says Gorlim. "if your tone means that even I won't give you answers, no-one else will. I will also remind you of something. Arvedui has given you no authority at all. You have none. if you must rake up the past, you can at least do it with some decorum."
He sighs.
"This is a ludicrous situation. It doesn't make sense fore ANY of them to be the traitor. Annuneryn dedicates his life to trying to gain the King's favour. His whole outlook is based around trying to atone for his father. Why do all that only to throw it away?"
---
"We have to rely on ourselves," says Morsire, "because except for a few strays, no-one else is going to do anything. So as ever, we shall bear whatever burdens we have to face. Oh, here's another for the circus," he adds, as Talin comes over.
"Um, ok, Morsire," says Elendur. Morsire raises en eyebrow. "Let's not forget Talin helped save my sister," Elendur comments. Morsire frowns but remains silemnt. "These female Elves... good shots, yes?" asks Elendur.
Talin ignores Morsire's blatantly rude comment.
"Your acknowledgement of my deed is an honor, your Highness," Talin responds, smiling widely. "And yes, I suppose they are. I dunno them all that well; I met that first one...Eo...Eoth...well, the first one, in Baranar, she joined us for the defense of the fortress. The one that's shootin' now...eh, not a bad shot.
"How're you with a bow, your Princeship?"
