yea but Middlesborough beat Chelsea 3-0... one embarassing defeat doesnt really seal a teams fate.

AC Milan have a great squad - Dida, Nesta, Khaladze, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Gattuso, Jankulovski, Kaka, Schevcenko to name a few. Thats a squad with the quality to perform in any league against any opposition, they just have a really bad retirement policy, and keep players into their 40s haha

Middlesborough beat Chelsea 3-0, Chelsea weren't 3-0 up at half time and then drawing by the end of the second half.

AC Milan not only threw away a 3-0 lead but they also missed chances they should have finished. Now, I know it's easy to say that but when Shevchenko is put in a situation that even Owen could finish off, I would imagine him to do so. Then he took a dire penalty, infact he pelted one wide last night.

When you are paid way above a great yearly wage, in a week, you should be scoring every penalty you get. If it's penalty shoot-outs I can make allowances for nerves, but when it's a simple in-game penalty and you are hailed as once of the best strikers in the world, you shouldn't be missing.

bit of a harsh and black and white statement...
theyre still people, even if they are extremely talented, teams give away leads all the time, i know its not always the champions league final and you'd expect them not to, but it happens... and like i said, one embarassing defeat doesnt write a team off completely.

So Schevcenko had a bad day, it happens, the team had a bad half, it happens... just so happens that Liverpool had the half of their lives at the same time, Milan got complacent and got punished. They still have the talent and ability to beat any team in the world on their day.

And they have one of the best squads around

You make some valid points, but you cannot say Milan don't have some fantastic players who are world class.....one example is Andriy Shevchenko, I could list more, but I won't

They just underachieve really, like the Italian national side do, but what do they expect when they play an Aussie up front??

It doesn't matter how big your reputation is or how good your team is "on paper", if you don't live up to it on the pitch then you don't deserve it.

Milan have a history of complacency and throwing away big leads.

Dida, Shevchenko if he can return to form, Kaka.

Hardly any Italian clubs have great Italian players. They're almost all foreign. Same with Spanish club teams. Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Messi, Larsson.

None of them are Spanish.

Spain and Italy get away with that too much. They play shit and people keep saying the underachieve. They achieve what shit teams achieve; Nothing.

For any true lover of the beautiful game, the most beautiful team left is undoubtably Barcelona. They have an inability to be prosaic. Lyon are a nice, organised team, AC Milan are like a sleek saloon car, Juve are like a Mercedes, but Barcelona are a Rolls Royce with flashing lights and wheels that can float. The fact that ex-players like Pele and Cryuff are hoping they win, shows the commitment they have to playing the game the way it should be played.

Lyon are easily the most underrated club.

-AC

I didn't mean they aren't a good team, but I think they would lose to AC Milan or Barcelona over two legs. However, if you want goals, the best match-up for the final would be Lyon - Barcelona.

they got stung for their complacency last year, i think their last result is a sign it wont happen again

Pirlo, Nesta, Gilardino, Gattuso, Ambrosini...
Milan have quite a nice supply of Italian talent but i do understand your point.

and it's one of the plus sides of the English media, if England performed consistently below its potential like they do the team would be crucified... unfortunately the media is also the biggest problem for the national team

You said one embarassing game isn't enough to condemn, then one great game against a Bayern Munich who weren't even performing good surely isn't enough to redeem them.

Out of the whole Italian league it's hardly impressive. Pirlo is the best there, Nesta is at the hill's summit if not over it. I'm not a fan of the latter three to be honest.

Typical English fanaticism for you.

England play shit but win jammily "Oh, deserved it. Was technique and skill." Ronaldinho shows them up with a magical free kick "He didn't mean that."

-AC

barcelona woudnt be as good without ronaldinho. i imagine the whole team feel so confident with him in the team. if he went to chelsea, i expect you would see the kind of football you are seeing at barca. he is out of this world.

The people around Ronaldinho know how to play with him though.

As great as he is, he's not a one man team. West Ham wouldn't be Champion's League contenders if he went there.

yea i guess, but what i was getting at is all teams are prone to complacency, and i agree Milan are more prone than others.

Pirlo is the best player there, but i personally love Gattuso as a player, he's like an old school English player (hard tackles, passion strength) but with reasonable technical ability as well... Gilardino is a quality striker and will be for some time... Ambrosini is good, but not the best italian player by far.

I don't like english media, and i agree with you there.

Speaking of Bayern, have Chelsea actually bought Ballack or not?

-AC

It looks inevitable, but I don't think it's official yet.

Interesting fact: Real Madrid had more English players in their squad on Wednesday than Arsenal.

Juventus is my team to win CL, they are unstoppable

People always raise that as a negative (not saying you are).

Sure, there are a lot of foreign players in the premiership, easily (I would guess) outnumbering the English. What would you rather have though? Ship all the foreigners to other clubs and have them replaced by players from the Vauxhall Conference. English? Yes. Good? No.

Wenger said it best when he said he looks at talent, not passport.

-AC

Obviously, if you limit your choices to one particular country, the pool of playing talent is going to be a lot smaller than if you broaden it to encompass the world. I cringe when I hear managers and commentators complain about there being too many foreigners in the Premiership, as if being born in a different country should define you in any way.

However, I think a team should show at least some representation of the country they are based in. Of course, Arsenal have Cole, Campbell and the recently acquired Walcott, but that's basically it in their whole first team squad. They had a good young English player in Bentley, but they let him go. Also, Hoyte looks just as good as Glichy, but it's Hoyte who was loaned out.

Obviously, I'm incredibly biased, but Spurs seems to be doing very well in acquiring talented young players who are performing better than Arsenal's at the moment; Robinson, Dawson, King, Carrick, Jenas, Lennon and Defoe are in no way inferior to Almunia, Sanderos, Toure, Flamini, Fabregas and Van Persie. Actually, Fabregas trumps all of them, but the rest compare favorably.

in my opinion you should keep a decent mix of local (national) players and foreigners. Now sometimes this policy doesn't rhyme with big international succes so at that stage I agree with AC and Wenger look at talent and skill not at passport
