Lampard is the best midfielder in England at the momentI'd drop Gerrard before i'd drop him, he's more consistent, Gerrard is overrated, but you all seem to groom him as some kind of superstar, he did less than Lampard against Macedonia
If anyone should be dropped, it should be Stevie G.....it makes me laugh how when everything goes wrong with England, Lampard is to blame
Gerrard has done nothing for club or country thus far, Lampard has
As VVD said somewhere, Gerrard is good for the odd commentator orgasm, Lamps is more consistent
And the fact both McClaren and Eriksson always pick him proves my point, Lampard is one of the best midfielders in the world, you do not drop him.......let's drop Rooney, shall we?? He's had a couple of crap games, let's jump all over him and criticise, it's what we always seem to do with our better players
Let's face it, England are better with Lamps than without him
gerrard has done nothing for club? he has been there best player. its not his fault the rest of the team isnt as gifted. whats lampard done for country? nothing outstanding. but id rather have gerrard in the middle.
i like lampard but he just doesnt seem to do it for england, i cant put my finger on it.
gerrard is the one being played out of position remember. he played better than lampard the other day anyway.
i have no problem with dropping rooney btw.
As noted on you're on Sky Sports last night, Lampard has more goals for England than both Rooney and Gerrard
And this season Gerrard has done nothing for his club yet, no goals and one assist, which was an arguable penalty.....
Lampard has assisted twice and scored four times, and the rest of the team around Gerrard have not been poor, Alonso and Sissoko have been praised no end by the media, pundits, etc
Like a few people have said also, Steven Gerrard has been no better for country than Lamps has, and i'm sick of people saying Stevie is a better player, he is not better than Lampard, nor his Lampard better than him, if you have both of them fit and raring to go, you have to play both, why did we need an holding midfielder in a home game against a mediocre Macedonia?? We don't, and the very idea of picking Carrick over Lamps is ridiculous, when you've got the quality of England, and when they play together, you're gonna do more attacking than defending, therefore for it serves detrimental to play a holding midfielder, even though I do wanna see how Scotty Parker fairs there
I just think you HAVE to play both Lampard and Gerrard, no point wasting a world class midfielder one way or the other
And i'm begging England to give Darren Bent another chance!!!

Are you aware that both Lampard and Gerrard played against Macedonia? If so, are you also aware that England played shit (twice) against a mediocre team like Macedonia? If so, then how do you come to the conclusion that England should play both? Remember, when they both play, one - or both of them - generally plays shit. Furthermore, when they play for their club teams, they both play better when coupled with a defensive midfield partner like Sissoko or Makelele.
A rational mind would deduce that they probably can't play together.
Agreed Ya Krunk'd, but why is it always Lamps getting the criticism, Steven Gerrard has done just as much (or little) as Lampard for England over the years, infact Lamps is more prolific than Stevie at both club and international level....Gerrard was no better than Frank Lampard against Macedonia, and I don't wanna hear this whole "well Steven Gerrard shouldn't be playing on the right" business, he's played there a few times now, so he's not new to it

Hahaha, it's Dirk Kuyt and Van The Man! Hahahaha! They so funny! Hahaha! They so very laughing funny! Hahaha!
I made a picture of 'Gooney' years ago. It's still on my computer somewhere.

I agree. Everyone is up Gerrard's rear. England's centre midfield consistently played shit, and people said 'Lampard and Gerrard play shit together...better drop Lampard.'
Gerrard is and has been ineffective for England for more or less his whole international career. Lampard isn't great for England, but who is.
ON a lighter note, Steve Mcnugget is a ****ing useless **** **** **** **** ****ing **** ****.

Oh, I get it...like 'Rooney', but because he looks like a Goonie you changed it to 'Gooney', right?
You're always one step ahead of the game. Stay that way.

Yeah, I mean did anyone really expect anything different seeing as he was working alongside Sven the whole time, and has chosen pretty much the same bunch of players.
I'm actually coming to the conclusion that it's not a case of England under-performing, but rather we're simply playing at our level. Sometimes we'll have a good game, but most of the time we hit long balls and lack any sort of creativity and fluidity. That doesn't mean they're not trying to play that way, but rather they just can't do it.

Yep- has been glaringly apparent for years. It is more obvious now though, as you can compare their style to Arsenal, or even Man Utd.
With only English players, things invariably go mammaries skyward.
It didn't help that most England lap dog fans got an erection over the fact that we beat Andorra 5-0......Croatia beat them 7
Most England fans build up this "invincibility" status for the team, when they are far from that, no international side are invincible
If the expectation was lowered and the media stopped jumping on every single mistake, England may have a better chance of achieving something, but because everyone expects so much, it puts that much more pressure on them
And i'm glad to see VVD agrees, Gerrard has done no more than Lamps in terms of international football
Anyone think after U-21's game last night, that we cudda benefitted from bringing Walcott on late against Portugal?? Ofcourse this would require Sven to know more about football than a *** bearing supermodel!!! Which unfortunately he didn't

McClaren is actually worse than Sven.I've decided.
I never thought I'd say this: bring back Beckham.
Nah, I say we play ol' Cole and Lennon when they're fit again. Then slot Hargreaves next to Gerrard, and Bob's you're uncle. Dunno who we'd play up-front, though...
Maybe go for a 4-3-3 formation:
------------------------Robinson---------------------------
Neville-----------Ferdinand-----King------------Cole
-----------------------Hargreaves------------------------
---------Gerrard-----------------Lampard----------------
Lennon------------------------------------Cole-----------
-----------------------Drogba-------------------------------
