The only players i would class as 'World Class' in the EPL (And im a Liverpool fan) are Henry, Drogba, Cech, Ronaldo their maybe one or two i havent said but the four named would walk into any squad in the World.

Essien, Fabregas, Toure, Larsson and Rooney are all definitely world class IMO.

And despite their terrible season, you can't call Ballack, Gerrard and Shevchenko anything less than world class. A bad patch does not make a bad player. I mean nobody would have said Drogba was even remotely close to world class last season, but now look at him.

scholes is world class also.

Im a huge fan of the German League and Im a fan of Bayern Munich. Ballack Pizarro, Podolski, and Makaay were a great duo of strikers.

Duo means two, you fantastically challenged idiot. Just joking.

Nah, I'm not. It does mean two.

That's a good thread. Well, a good thing to discuss in this one thread, that covers all the many discussions relevant to one of the world's most popular sports so adequately.

Who would people say are the 'world class' Premier League players?

Also, how would you define 'world class'?

I can normally tell when players have a hidden talent, but admittedly I didn't see Drogba ever being worth the money he was bought for.

The only person I know who did was VVD.

Any squad as in club? I seriously doubt Ronaldo could walk into any club.

He couldn't go to Barca or Arsenal and get a guaranteed spot.

Have you not seen him play this season? Any team in the world would make room for him.

I could tell, too. I knew it way back, like.

PS. Go Spurs! Great result yesterday! Wooo! Go! Yeah!

Well done spurs, 4:0 smacking 🙂

I dunno, he is quite profligate.

Also, Martin Jol wouldn't, he'd sign Matthew Etherington instead, to keep the midfield mediocrity streak going (barring A Len).

Yet apart from Frank The Thick Tank, he's the top scoring and assisting midfielder in the country...

Yeah, I agree. Then we should go after some old man who doesn't have any shoes and swears a lot.

Essien and Toure are not world class, they are very good players dont get me wrong but their are far better players who play their postion. Fabregas will be world class as long as he stays with Arsenal Larssons past it Rooney I suppose you could call him World Class.

Ballack and Shevchenko could only walk in to teams like Chelsea who seem to be buying players for their Names. Gerrard im not sure about (And as a liverpool fan im prone to being bias) but i think alot of teams would welcome him, Im not saying he could walk into them but he could deffinetly fight for a place.

I really don't see how people can say Christiano Ronaldo is not world class, if he can keep this form up for a few seasons he will be the best in the world. He's easily the best youngster in the world only young player i would really put next to him is Messi

1) Toure isn't world class? Are you mental?

2) Name one defender better than Toure, and if you say John Terry I'll laugh.

Why does Rooney automatically get accepted? Comparatively, Toure plays much better than Rooney.

How do we define youngsters? Ronaldinho is only 26.

Messi is 18? 17? How on Earth can you say a man with pace and a few stepovers is logically better than Lionel Messi? He's one of the best players in the world, full stop, regardless of age. C. Ronaldo is just really good on his day.

Then of course there's Robinho, Fabregas etc.

Regardless, though, the man is annoyingly wasteful (as can Lampard be).

Name these better players. Why does that stop someone being world class, anyway?

If Rooney is world class now, then so is Fabregas.

In fact, he is regardless. Rooney has done little; his achievements are padded out by column inches of drool.

Well, if he is wasteful, then everyone else is lacking in the ability to get into those positions in the first place, so they're bad too.

Larssons past it

Someone didn't watch last years Champions League final.

Better Centre Midfeilder than Essie - Xavi, Gerrard, Deco, Pirlo, Cambiasso and Maxi Rodriguez.

Better central defenders that Toure- Carrager, Cannavaro, Puyol, Nesta.

I watched the Championse League final and Larsson was average at best. Youngsters i'd class as 17 to 22. Ronaldo is in my opinion the best player in the premier league. Im not saying Messi's crap but when he played Chelsea this and last season he wasnt all that, they kept him quite you rarely see Ronaldo get kept quite. In my eyes a world class player should be able to Adapt to play in any league which Ronaldo has done.

I havent seen alot of Fabregas ill only see Arsenal and spain play 3 or 4 games a season so im judging him by what ive seen. The reason i beleive Rooney is world class is because of the way he plays, his goal against Pompey was a perfect example their are only a few players who could see the room to lob a keeper like that, Watch the way that he reads that game its. I would say hes a world class striker (A world Class striker would have scored more this season) But he is a world class player.

essian is world class. he is excellent. you cant really compare him to those players you mentioned(apart from gerrard) cos they are totally different players

Well Xavi and Deco both play the sam roles as Gerrard as does Maxi Rodriguez

Cannavaro and Puyol are as good, not necessarily better than Toure. I think Carragher has always been criminally underrated, but he's really not in the same league as the other three.

Judging by his play this season, Essien is as good a player than all of those you mentioned (and certainly better than Cambiasso and Maxi), and both more versatile and consistent than any of them.

Then you must have been very drunk at the time 😑

He was on for like 20 minutes, and he set up both of Barcelona's goals with two pieces of superb positioning and timing. He won that game for them. He's also, at 35 years old, managed to come into a fluid, blindingly efficient team completely set in its winning formula and not only managed to not disrupt it in any way, but actually give it another dimension. If Larsson had played most of his career in England or Spain instead of Scotland (where he was by far the best player in the country) he'd get more recognition. Not that he hasn't proved himself at the highest level time and time again, it just would have helped.

Go Arsenal- the most talented team in the world.
