As bad as Bendtner's tackle looked, I think it was more clumsy than malicious.
The irony is, people say 'that could have injured Johnson', but Carew's on Hleb was clearly pre-meditated, and did actually injure him. Slide from behind, yellow card- Hleb out for three weeks.
They need to sort it out, because if you know you can purposely injure an opponent and take a yellow for it, then loads of players are going to do that. The people on the end of it will be the Hlebs, the Ronaldos, the Torres...es.
There's all this tabloid-led BS about diving (though the English divers are conveniently ignored by both the tabloid papers and MotD (Neville's dive yesterday)), but 'getting stuck in' is praised. No wonder England are so shit.
Also, why when someone gestures for a yellow do the commentators start fellating each other with anger? As if that's despicable, but Terry removing the ref's card from his hand, or Fat Wayne berating every official on the pitch are somehow noble acts.
On another note- Everton are about 4 players short of being better than Liverpool, I'd say.
id say they're about 1 player short in torres. arteta does more for everton than gerrard does for liverpool on a way more consistent basis. their defense and midlfield are pretty even and although id probably take alonso and mascherano over neville and carsley, they're not bad replacements for the system everton plays.

Well, I meant in overall terms, IE who would do better in the league. Now that I think of it though, in a match between the two, if Torres switched sides I'd favour Everton as well.
Don't forget Cahill, too.

i was just wondering, when you guys argue over who is the better player do you guys judge a player on how many goals and assists they get in a season or on how they play?
It's more complicated than that. You can't assess Toure based on his goals and assists, but on the other hand you might judge Evra more highly due to his assist play.
Why?
First of all, happy new year guys....lets hope our teams and that have a great 2008.
anyways, its hard to compare players from different positions, as you said with Evra and Torress, both skilful but we are more likely to see more skill from torres on the pitch.
th two most improved teams I have seen this season are Everton and Man City. Great signings and everything seems to be clicking into place with each teams systems.
oh dont get me started on the commentators and yellow cards, and also the diving thing. Pundits seem to blame it all on quality foreign players. Ballack does over-dramatic his falls, but it aint a dive. Its better to tumble over to show that you have been tackled bad and get a freekick.... remember the world cup with rooney? if he stayed down it wouldve been a freekick.
also, I am currently watching the Chelsea game.... as I said before CHELSEA DO NOT HAVE DEPTH. they are being run ragged by Fulham and I cant believe I am saying that.
Sidwell is rubbish, and Alex thinks he is an attacking midfielder and Bridge is never tackin back after being a "3rd striker".
aint seen nothing from Pizzaro, Ballack is the only player trying ti switch things up... maybe SWP as well.
Half time:
Fulham 1
Chelsea 0

yeah I noticed, sorry my bad....I am sure I saw him, haha.anyways, chelsea won 2-1....haha didnt i just say Ballack and his tendancy to fall over big time.
So Ballacks still up to his tricks, foul other players big time and if slightly touched, fall over and scream like a girl.
I was at officially the most boring game ever today. Aberdeen vs Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
0-0 all the way up to the 83rd minute when Aberdeen got a penatly. I couldnt even be bothered to celebrate the goal.
I am a right lazy SOB today, so could someone please tell me the liverpool score? I am watching a dvd at the mo and the control to flick onto TV is too far away.
I always thought he was an excellent manager, my uncle never stopped reminding me of his achievments in Italy.
I dont know why they are blaming him for not winning anything for england? erm....no one has done it in 40 years, thats ALOT of managers.
I am on course to win a shit load of wad at the end of the season, got a bet slip in the safe which states Man City will qualify for europe through the league. sweet.
Also made the same bet with Sunderland, daft I was.
