villa werent an utter mess until we were two nil up. it could have dropped to anyone in the box, but it dropped to ronaldo and he put it away. i dont know where you're getting this loose defense shit from, they were playing well until we scored. then it was down to the movement of tevez and a great ball from ronaldo, not loose defense.

You were two nil up, that early, that definitively, because they were an utter mess. It was Villa turning in on themselves from the off.

I'm getting it from watching the game live, and the match reports on every football site have described Ronaldo's goal as coming from shambolic Villa defense. I'm not entirely sure you watch the games.

i dont know what the **** you're talking about with the blanket statement thing, that was how the game went, were you watching a different one or something? the ball falls to players in the box all the time and they get their shots blocked, ronaldo happened to get his shot away quick enough and scored. it once again had nothing to do with "uncharacteristically loose defense".

It was a goalmouth scramble. Villa panicked and flicked the ball away to Ronaldo's feet and he instinctively had a snap placement shot.

I firmly believe you just assume what happened in these games.

its not a great goal, but its not a tap in. he created the space and put it in the only spot that it would have gone in the net.

Depends what you call a tap in. To me a scramble and shot from six yards is a tap in.

I guess our terminology is different. Then, you do call your own team by the wrong name.

Eduardo scored a goal against Everton that involved running onto a long through ball, controlling it and knocking it past the keeper. Great goal, but still a tap in finish.

the ball came in bounced around, and fell to his foot.

well if the football site said it, it must be true. it wasnt quite a shambolic defense at that point.

what would you like me to call them?

id go with the literal definition of a tap in.

No, the fact that the defence completely idioted up a routine clearance and it fell right to Ronaldo was in actuality highly efficient work.

my point is that could have just as easily happened to arsenal. **** they're a shitty defense, they couldnt deal with the ball, but because its manchester its because they were intimidated and werent trying as hard.

the way i picture a tap in is someone crosses a ball and whoevers on the end of it taps it in.

that was a sick goal though, i remember that one.

You only have to go back to the Villa game at Villa Park to see the same thing. 4-1 victory, but an absolute shambles by Villa. Rio scored a goal at 10mph, via the floor, detouring past a few defenders and the goalie. They don't always let in such weak goals. Man Utd don't have a special ability to score weak goals, do they?

To me, a tap in is a simple finish from around the six yard box, which that was. The fact that he pulled it wide, fell over or hit it with a mild bit of power makes no difference really.

like i said before, it was the movement of our attacking players at villa park and it was the same thing today, along with some fortuitous bounces.

okay whatever, manchester has this magical ability that makes other teams shit when they play against them but has nothing at all to do with how good man u actually are. you are completely right. i dont know why i was arguing in the first place.

Did you watch Arsenal/Villa?

Yeah, exactly.

The fact is, it has happened with a number of teams. This claim would be floppy, but considering the fact that when teams do not shit themselves they either do well and limit Man Utd to no more than a scrappy goal, end up drawing, or win, I'd say it's evident.

Tottenham, Arsenal, Derby, Man City, West Ham. Not coincidences. Portsmouth, Coventry, it has happened many times.

yeah, i did. aston villa got lucky with the own goal and outplayed arsenal for half the game. before they scored it was just like the game today, they started well. in the arsenal game they just got on the scoresheet first and had something to build their confidence. thats man united's fault because we didnt get outplayed by aston villa at home? we got lucky, scored early and then scored a well worked goal that aston villa couldnt defend well enough and you call it psychological.

dont forget bolton, bolton got lucky and their one chance in the game went in as well. i dont know where you get this shit from. our reserve team played against conventry. carrick was the only first teamer besides anderson who was playing shit at that point in the season.

all that is bs man, honestly. newcastle layed down for us, but they layed down for liverpool the week before that. other than that i cant think of a team that didnt show up to play against us.

Outplayed? They were catching Arsenal on the break now and then. Now, Mr. Canada, do you want to know why that usually happens? It usually happens when one team is pushing for a goal or goals. Arsenal had to do this because after getting lucky with the own goal, Villa more or less got their entire team behind the ball. At multiple points I counted seven men in and around Villa's box, not even during Arsenal's attacks.

Arsenal scored the kind of goal then that Man Utd scored against Tottenham. Except Tottenham were good enough to get that goal on their own merit, not through an own goal. I'm not saying that teams psyching themselves out is why Man Utd get ALL their results, I'm saying that teams do not make it as hard for them as they make it for others, and that's a clear fact if you watch the games.

To suggest Man Utd outplayed Villa is ridiculous in the sense that YOU mean it. Villa were nothing like they were against Arsenal.

I watch the games, that's where I get this "shit". Try it sometime, they're good. You might actually get to see Ronaldo play. That guy you like.

Because you clearly do not watch the games.

probably want to read the whole sentence there ac, outplayed half the game, not the entire game. notice the word half. now, let me explain something to you. aston villa attacked in the first half against arsenal, much like they did today in manchester. but unlike today, they got their noses in front and like you said put everyone behind the ball. this is something you do in football when you want to protect a lead.

the difference between the games is villa outplayed you in the first half hour or so and got a goal out of it and you were chasing the game for 60 minutes. we scored 2 goals in the first half hour of our game and it was basically over after that.

ive missed 3 or 4 manchester games all season out of like 45, maybe not even that. i dont watch every arsenal game, just ones with teams i like in them.

Diaby...another lovely Arsenal player. Is he blind, or was he just trying to Eduardo the other player?

I guess Whinger will be coming out saying Diaby should be banned for life as well?

Yeah, right...

The difference between the games was the fact that Villa, like many teams, psyched themselves out and fell apart from within against Man Utd. United didn't take apart their defense, their defense fell apart on its own, and then they had to chase the game, and Man Utd then had free reign over a floundering Villa.

You obviously didn't watch the game if you think Villa were in any kind of good shape even prior to the first goal.

A) It's Manchester United. Not Manchester.

B) You clearly are not only selective about the games you watch, but how you watch them. You're a fan of Man Utd more than you're a fan of the Premier League, evidently.

C) You don't even know enough of your team to realise who the legitimate first teamers are. It's no wonder you knee-jerk and retract so often.

Yeah, right...

"His leg was too high, it was a red card and we can't argue with that.". He also said that his comments on Taylor were rash, heat of the moment, and retracted them. With that said, Diaby's tackle wasn't anywhere near as bad of an angle. Bad tackle, though, and worthy of a red.

It's funny. You're either rampant with inner fury about Arsenal, talking about Arsenal/Tottenham...or Wenger.

Can you possibly be so disappointed in Spurs that you cannot mention them on their own merit?

It's factually true that you hate Spurs and support Arsenal now, I guess. You talk about the team I support more than the team you support. I guess...that can only mean...you support Arsenal. Yep. Ya Krunk'd Gooner. Y.K.G. is your new name.

From the MOTD highlights that I saw, Man Utd did indeed take apart their defense. Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez were combining excellently.

The mighty Spurs have already secured a trophy and a European place this season, so there isn't that much in the way of news about them at the moment. Apart from us being the highest scorers of all the teams at home, and the third highest scorers in the league overall.

Also, it's great watching Arsenal blow the league and stumble through games. Furthermore, it's fun to berate the little bitches for their whining, petulance and hypocrisy.

PS. You know 'support' (in the context you're using) means encourage, right? Doesn't really fit with what I'm saying, does it? Still, I guess my criticism of Arsenal is a means of eventual support because I'm hoping that when they finally wind their necks in, they'll realise what a bunch of little babies they've been.

The mighty Spurs have already secured a trophy
second hand store trophy, a cup where a lot of team show up with what? yeha their junior squad, oh my what a great cup to brag about. Now the FA cup theres a cup for you, and mighty spurs, when have spurs ever been mighty .............and the European place is the substitute European cup as well, Champions League or nothing.
Martin Peters still skip for spurs?

Well that's entirely different. If Arsenal beat Barcelona 10-0, you'd say "I didn't see a dominant Arsenal.".

Hahaha, yeah. See, we both support Arsenal. That's why we are friends, because we can both agree that Spurs fans aren't in a position to be so rabidly and bitterly critical, despite the so-called security of already having won a cup.

Listen, me lad, I've been through all this before, and yours is a tired refrain, but here's a little rehash...Ol' Chelsea took it pretty seriously in the final. So did Arsenal as they threw on Fabregas, Eduardo and Adebayor to salvage something. As for the UEFA, Bayern Munich are going for it with some conviction, so it ain't all that bad either.

Sadly, Peters is out, but I hear Danny Blanchflower's ghost may be making a comeback as Spurs take steps towards recreating more of the glory, glory days.

If that did happen, there'd be 9 own goals and an offside shin shot.

I love you, man, you're special.

We won a cup. You didn't/won't. How about I'll let you support Tottenham if you say something nice about Berbatov and Keane?

*Puts on an AC-voice*

"Berbs and Keano are good, they score a lot of goals, like."

See, an Arsenal fan if ever I saw it.

just watched the full motd (and the irish equivalent), and umm...

maybe fabregas will stfu after what diaby did yesterday... credit to arsenal though, they really pulled their asses out of the fire, lucky deflections or no...

united destroyed villa, and i have to say, ive seen people go on about united not playing attractive football, but damn, against liverpool (where anderson, carrick and scholes literally took the piss), and now against villa, they've played quick, clever football for long periods, and by some miracle even carrick is starting to look competent... though roma are bound to be more of a challenge than a poor pool or villa...
