get rid of him i say. then bring in a quality striker and another winger. There are loads to choose from. i would take ramos and robinho too.

I agree the money and therefore players that Man Utd can get from the sale will be more important than what one player on his own can give to the team.

I also agree, the money they´d get for C.Ronaldo would be enough to get a few top players. Including some young ones for the future.

And if Man U met real in the CL next season they have no problems shutting C Ronaldo out, as shown in numerous games against top quality he doesn´t do much.

If he's smart enough to realise that there are much better players at Real than at United, he won't go, because he'll become anonymous.

He has to stay at United to get all this praise.

i think united are the better team personally. who could take the praise off him at madrid?

Well he's going to stand out less there than he is at Man Utd isn't he?

At Madrid they've got Robben, Robinho etc. All doing really well, all well liked.

-AC

Why? Robinho and Robben are never gonna get the sky high publicty that Ronaldo will get. And plus Madrid obviously don't like Robinho that much if they are willing to do a trade.

Owen got a lot of publicity too, it didn't stop him failing.

If he does well at Madrid, awesome. It'll be funny to see all the Man Utd lovers turn on him.

-AC

Failed mainly cos they never played him. When they did play him, he scored most the time.

Thats a good point, the constellation of players and the way football is played in Spain would take the shine of C.Ronaldo´s show offy, egoistic style of play. I doubt the same thing would happen to him as Owen though, Owen did well, scored goals but still got sidelined. Maybe capello didn´t like him and still doesn´t for some reason, hence his England sidelining. (or wasn´t it Capello?)

He won´t be able to just take the ball and do free kicks when theres better players suited to the situation like Hargraves on the pitch, like at man u.

Plus I get the impression that in the Spanish league they are good at strategicaly taking players out of the game, whether it be minor fouls or starving the players zone of play. There´s more passing and movement, than the english leagues direct approach.

Mind you the sign of a world class top player is the ability to adapt and use thier skill to progress in any situation.

What I mean, to sort of clarify the point I made to Deano, is that he won't be the only galactico, he's not gonna be the first or last big signing.

At Man Utd, he pretty much won them the league. If you take Ronaldo and his goals out, they'd not have won it, factually.

It wasn't Capello. Capello was Madrid's head coach in the seasons of 1996/1997 (I believe) and 2006/2007. Owen left in 2005 (he played there for the 2004/2005 season) and played 36 games for Real. He left because he was homesick.

I could've sworn I told you this when Capello was appointed as England's coach though...

brought this up to a man utd fan mate of mine, and he said he'd want to sell him. if he doesnt want to play for your team anymore, make the most of they're value and use that money to bring in more talent. i do agree, if someone would prefer to be elsewhere then sell them and bring in players who want to play for you. one player doesnt make the team, not even ronaldo. he probably did win them the league, but i think other players may have stepped up in his place had he not been there and still challanged for the title.

alpha, like the new sig. not sure how long you've had it but just noticed and thought it was noice.

VVD linked me to the original point and raised the idea that it sums up a lot of great things about football.

The original pic is from a game where crazed fans interrupted a game by throwing flares onto the pitch, I believe. That picture sort of contradicts the fighting between them.

yeh i remember that match. champions league semi final?

i do love that pic though

They'd have also played the whole season with only 10 men. Not really fair, is it?

so what is spurs formation gonna be then?

do you have a link to the original? photography is my thing see. documentary photography, sports photography, fashion... anything. i love it. not bad with a lens meself either.

it is good to see that players from different teams, even those known for heated rivalries can put it aside and stand together. finally some good examples to inspire young footballers.

Yeh i think you did, I´m a bit thick though and forget things. Wasn´t Capello the one who put Beckham on the bench all the time then?
