I just use the "Capello is an idiot/old/Italian" excuse for Crouch being out. Crocuh has scored more goals per game than Rooney for England, plus he has an awesome attitude and personality.

I would love to see more Crouch-Rooney or Crouch-Defoe but Rooney-Defoe is pretty cool for now, although I do expect us to struggle with Switzerland, they're FIFA rating is around the same as Egypt and Mexico and Crouch scored I think 2 goals against both of them.

I would also love to see Lampard without Gerrard, or how about this, for once have Gerrard and Lampard in their club positions. You look at Chelsea and Liverpool games in the last 4 years, Lampard has played mostly in LCM, Gerrard in RCM, so why the **** in England are they the other way around? Might seem minor but I think that might be a bit important as Gerrard clearly can't play on the left side of the pitch.

That is actually the key to success in my opionion, let the players play where they are used to playing so they don´t have to adjust and preferably in a block of players from a certain club, so they know what the other player is doing without thinking, reduces reaction time.

I know it isn´t that easy with lots of non English players playing in the league. But if you look at how many players from Bayern Munich were in the German team for example, its clear why they could play so effective.

Rather a hand than a bunch of loose fingers.🙂

Lets take 2006 for example.

Neville Ferdinand Terry A. Cole
Beckham Scholes Lampard J. Cole
Owen Heskey

4 Man U players on the right, 4 Chelsea players on the left and 2 former Liverpool forwards all in their correct positions. Chelsea and Man U were also the top 2 in the 2006 premiership. How ****ing easy should that have been?

Crouch shouldn't be in. He's good for a second option off the bench, but he doesn't deserve a position over Rooney or Defoe. England shouldn't be playing with two strikers anyway. They should put Rooney up front with Gerrard being a supporting striker and Lampard with a DM behind. Put Walcott and Johnson on the flanks, with Walcott having a more advanced position. That would work.
Yeah, that system worked wonders against Hungary.

Oh wait we didn't have Heskey in 06. Crouch or Rooney then.

Take a real look at the league will you. Outside of the big 4 (and to be honest even the big 4 has it's fair share.) most sides have more English players than anything.

Look at today's England squad... 6 Man City players got a game. We're not nearly as fragmented as you're making out.

World class players?

And that 4-4-2 worked wonders in the World Cup. 4-4-2's don't work anymore, and England doesn't even have the personnel to run a proper 4-4-2 with a creator-destroyer.

Mate, pretty much every national team isn't made up from 100% world class players, there simply aren't enough of them.

The Man City recruits are solid, the majority of them get regular games for a team as competitive as Man City. There are only a few players in the England squad that come from a team that didn't finish in the top 6 last year.

Good points, Man City have more English players than I thought. The future looks promising then, but only if the FA find some way to let the players get some rest before major tournaments, in the last world cup the England players were running sand, a sure sign of exhaustion

The problem wasn't 4-4-2, the problem was playing players in unfamiliar positions.

USA played in 4-4-2 and they did way better against Slovenia than us, Switzerland played 4-4-2 when they beat Spain, 4-4-2 works, but 4-3-3/4-5-1 is the way forward I think, just not Rooney upfront. No way.

LOL! Has anyone seen this yet? XD XD XD

Fail! I love how he celebrates such a shit goal.

A goal is a goal... and in a penalty shootout they mean more than anything. Celebrating that is fine.

But that goalie is an idiot.

Loved how complacent he felt when making that PK save. A pretty difficult task (hence why i'm beginning to favor Golden goal).

Poor guy. 😛

I both love and hate penalties. I love the drama and when my team wins them... but as any English person can tell you.. Penalties are EVIL.

I like the Golden Goal rule too... but you have to put a time limit on it somewhere... I don't want to watch two teams in a stalemate for hours.

And the goalie was a bit stupid... It was an honest mistake though, one I imagine a lot of goalies would do.

Didn't golden goal still have penalty shootouts after a certain amount of time?

It was 3 - 1 to Man Utd at 90 mins... 3 mins later it was 3-3.

Moyes stormed onto the pitch and had a go at the ref for blowing his whistle to end the game as Everton were on an obvious break.

Amazingly boring game against Rangers then.

Looking forward to seeing özil play for Real Madrid (if he starts) aparently he´s been doing well so far. Excellent player, maybe a future "world best player"🙂

^ I'm just glad I watched the Tottenham game.

Gunners trounced Braga... Although it was obviously on the cards, I didn't think Braga would have made it that easy. They gave Cesc and Wiltshire so much bloomin' space.
