Ferguson got charged with improper conduct for speakin' about a referee before a match.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/13387966.stm

'But two days before the game - which would have seen Chelsea top the table had they won - Ferguson spoke about Webb at a news conference.

"We are getting the best referee, there is no doubt about that," he said at the time.'

As much as I dislike United, it seems a bit silly, no? Though I do suppose his choice of words could have been better.

They're just being difficult, getting him back no doubt. I'm also always amazed that the FA will blindly defend referees when they royally f*ck up during matches, punishing managers for saying what most people are thinking.

They just don't like Ferguson, as he's one of those managers who (for all his faults) isn't afraid to call a spade a spade when it comes to bad refereeing.

Though like most, he does suffer from selective blindness...

Yeah, they're trying to get back at him. They've probably been waiting for an oppurtunity like this for a while no doubt, for him to 'slip up' and break some small, petty rule he probably wasn't even aware of.

It's only damaging the FA's reputation even more though, so who cares.

That's what I said, it should've been a free kick as he was pulling his shirt, outside of the penalty area. You can't go and wait until they enter the penalty area and then give a penalty, that would be even worse than not whistling for anything at all.

It's funny you would say I'm biased towards anything. Especially while ending a post with a comment like that.

Finally. I hate it when people completely overreact to things like this. As if every club Barcelona has ever beaten in the last couple of years lost to them because of their diving, manipulating or referees being on their side. AND they're the only club that has that happening to them.

It's becoming a bit pathetic. Like I said earlier, you can make a vid like that of any club, including your precious Real Madrid.

Also, like I said earlier as well, diving and manipulating the referee has become inherent to football, Barcelona are no worse than most of the clubs you see them playing in that video, especially AC Milan.

I never said Barcelona players never dive, but you're acting like they're the only team in the world that does, which is ridiculous.

Who did say I was a Real Madrid fan?

I just assumed, considering your rabid defense of them earlier.

Just like you assumed I was a Barcelona fan, no biggie.

So, the second half of the CL final was likely the most one-sided half in this season's tournament.

Ferguson dropped the ball with his placement of Park and Giggs (who probably shouldn't have played at all).

Carrick can't hack it at this level, and even Anderson would have had more bite in midfield while still being a good passer of the ball.

I hope the rumours about having to buy four players with a lot of money to spend are true. They need a central midfielder or two especially with Scholes retiring. The two wingers are fine, but one wouldn't hurt I think. The defence is all right (Evra just had a 'mare). Ferdinand is the only one that worries me; his lack of concentration is shocking at times.

Still, at least he has Vidic to make him look good.

No issues with the strikers; Rooney and Hernandez with decent supply are great, to the extent that Berbatov is kept out.

The goalkeeper is a problem, but they look to have solved that...

This doesn't really belong here but seeing as noone actually uses the FIFA threads in the gaming forum I thought I'd post it here to give the footy fans and FIFA players among you a laugh.

This is a goal I scored today on FIFA 10 (Yes I'm a sad **** for playing this and not 11 but who cares)

More amusing still is that I scored it playing as Sligo.

Talk about luck of the Irish.

My god did anyone else watch the England match?

Down 2-0 and Lamps and Ashley Young take 2. What do you think this means for England's Euro chances if we are struggling against the damned Swiss!? (Though I do applaud their efforts, it was a truly remarkable display from them)

Also, really historic event taking place in the lower leagues of football. I don't think this will really mean much to anyone not living in England but AFC Wimbledon have moved up to the League 2 after a fighting season.

I was talking to a great friend of mine who's really avid about this, apparently AFC Wimbledon was an off shoot from the MK Dons supporters group when the name change arrived. (Much like FC United of Manchester) If this is true, (as I haven't researched it) then that's truly amazing.

It's very little known that Wimbledon even have a football team that was actually successful at all (outside of England) and I'm sure old man Bic could tell you all about in better detail but I'll keep the explanation brief:
For those of you who don't know, MK Dons used to be Wimbledon F.C., a club that worked it's way from the bottom to becoming a Premiership name (they even beat my Liverpool in a stunning 1-0 FA cup victory). Their success was something that was truly, very unique to the realm of English football and it was certainly an almost poetic tale of the underdog triumphing over the top dogs.

However, with all the success they eventually wanted to relocate and thusly, the location of the stadium changed as did the name: Enter Milton Keynes Dons. It was a really big blow to the supports of Wimbledon FC as they now lost their beloved club, (which now lurks the lower Leagues of the F.A.).

Fingers crossed, if AFC Wimbledon does well in League 2 and moves up to League 1... ooooooo

And Jaden: LOL

I still play FIFA 10, didn't go for 11 because I was still playing pro and manager modes.. Also it is an awesome game.

AFC Wimbledon are the supporter owned club are they not?...Where as MK Dons are the team that used to be Wimbledon.

It's an odd concept that's more prevalent in American sports where teams have been known to move cities a lot.

They were class back when Dennis Wise, Vinnie Jones etc used to play for them...Especially when Jonesy crushed Gazza's nuts.

I'm impressed.
On the topic of teams moving, I am curious to know if the fan base is similar to how it is here. Like, if you are born in say... I don't know, Barnsley. You're pretty much going to be a Barnsley supporter through and through (of course theres "Manchester United" fans everywhere), is that the same in America? Like, if you are born in New York are you typically going to be a Yankees supporter?

I still play FIFA 2010 as well. Also, I remember Wimbledon FC as well, though only from FIFA 2000. I heard that whole MK Dons story a while ago, didn't know they used to be Wimbledon FC though.
