Well this movie is going to suck period
Firstly AVP fcuked the whole alien franchise up, How? Simple. Michael bishop appeared in alien 3 in 2179 and the director states that he is the actual bishop who designed the android models and this is backed up when we see his ear dangling and tissues exposed.
Guess what? AVP claims that charles bishop is the original bishop and they made androids in his image hundres of years later. Contradiction? Hell yea
And if you have watched all 4 alien films the key goal was to never let the alien to earth seeing it will annihilate the human race completely and wreck havock but when we saw AVP guess what?? They have been on earth all the while!
Lets also not forget that AVP never explained where the predator got the alien eggs from or if they had any connections to the space jockeys. Thats right the jockeys are the one who created the aliens Apparantly the ship filled with eggs in alien stored these eggs in a stasis field and those eggs used to be space jockeys
And after reading the plot of avp2 i was WTF? Instead of choosing exotic alien planets or other planets, instead of space or any other area save for earth they chose a stupid small town?
This is going to end up like other cheap shit horror films. Blah blah blah the team of surviving humans take refuge in a mall, they shoot and kill any aliens they see and 1 by 1 the crew is killed off until the last 2 survivors which will consist of
either
1. Lovers
2. Parent and child
3. Best friends
And then they wanderhere and there and they find the nest and as other stupid horror films they are going to bomb the place with some good old dynamites.
For once i want to see all the humans getting killed so i can leave the theatre with shock rather than expect them to survive as any other show

i really enjoyed AVP with the exception of the 10min gestation period.(maybe it will be explained in the next movies)
if you get the unrated version of AVP there is way more blood it was much better.
You have to remember that the company is trying to get the aliens for the biomecanical weapons, so they are keeping their existance a secret for the most part.
as for bishop in alien 3, i don't really care cause for me the series ended at the end of aliens. and #3 and #4(resurection) never happened.
Fox would be wise if they are going to continue with this story to toss those 2 and start from the end of aliens.
as for AVP2 here is hoping , as the directors are special effects masters and thats it. I am reminded of phil tippet's (creature designer and effects for star wars and other scifis) directorial debut with starship troopers 2 that sucked. cross your fingers.

I think the connection of AvP to the aliens movies was done only out of homage. The Bishp thing was the very least of the movies problems.
The space jockeys didnt create the aliens. Each alien incarnation is different depending on their host. The sapce jockey's just coolected the alien eggs. Not referencing where the predators recieved the alien eggs from was doing the same in alien and aliens by not referencing where the jockeys recieved the egg's from. It would have not excelled the story or added any kind of new dimention to the broken execution of the story.
As much as i agree with you that aliens vs predator would do better taking a page out of the comics and taking place elsewhere than Earth. There are two factors keeping the war on Earth. One the dudget is very low for an aliens vs predator movie, Secondly, im sure the filmakers are bound to keep continuity in the series by somehow connecting AvP2 with the first.

Well that may be one way to look at it. The comic book genocide however, states that the aliens are an independent species created only by nature. Although im sure it doesnt mater one way or the other, considering there was no extended universe for the alien franchise during the first two movies.
Also, in AvP, i didnt think lance henriksons character bore the name bishop, I thought he was just the man that started the coorporation which later was responsible for the advance in cubornetics, or am i wrong...was henriksons' character in AvP bishop?

the comic books came before the exntended literature 🙂
I dont see how anderson tried to state that weyland was the original bishop, is name wasnt even bishop. I am sure henrikson was cast just to try to pay some tribute to the original alien flicks

i cant wait for avp2. it looks like the crew have realized that thhey messed up with the first one and are going to fix it in the second one. also the whole bishop thing, according to the movies and my opinion, the bishop in a3 was an android specifically designed to look extremely human while avp bishop was the original. i mean really can you imagine the companys main person being sent into a dager zone like a3? i cant.

I hope someone learned something from the first movie. Though i thought the concept and tone of the first one was decent enough, it fell apart in execution. IT feels like an empty film. I will never understand why they just didnt go with the already existing story of AVP form the comics. I think its silly that Fox feels that it is important to connect each movie. from these series'
Personally, i think the bishop thing was a very slight in consistancy. Maybe if the last two aliens movies and AvP were good, i would have cared enough to pick on that
