I would love to see VII VIII IX done, maybe I am alone here, but it would be nice to see the Jedi come back to glory again with Luke as head of the council and his kids as the new Jedi knights =) we saw the rise and fall of the darkside and now we need to the rise of the light side once again. I dont think it is really complete as it sits, sure Vader and the Emp fell but now what ? who is in charge now? who does the senate come back ? and who leads that? besides everyone knows that there was 12 books made and then it compacted to 9 books, if your gonna tell a story you dont stop 3/4 of the way through do ya.

Return Of The Jedi was the final chapter. It was going to be number nine, but became six.
Lucas has told the story. It's over.
What can he do now anyway? Star Wars is marketed on Vader. People expect Vader to there somewhere, either on the horizon on on the screen. That's why the prequels made sense to make.
What now? Have Luke turn to the darkside? Have the Empire Strike Back AGAIN? Emperor Clones? Leia as a Jedi? Oh and good luck finding actors that look just like Ford/Fisher/Hamill/Williams circa 1982.
It's about the Chosen One. He ends The Sith. Luke becoming a Sith would be super lame, it would defeat the point of the chosen one ending the Sith. It's over, done.
EU post-ROTJ is pretty crap. The interest is gone. The Empire will never be as much of a threat as it was in the OT, so why bother with the crappy remnant and second rate Sith Lords?
I don't think Lucas has to do trilogies if he wants to keep Star Wars going. With a trilogy, it is 10 years of his life, and he is not getting any younger, and sometimes there is not enough material for 3 movies. What happens, as with the prequels, are the first 2 movies become a setup for a big payoff in the third. That is why ROTS is so much better than TPM & AOTC, everything we wanted to see occurs in it.
I think Lucas could just do individual movies that are part of the Star Wars saga. It doesn't have to be Episode VII or Episode 0 or Episode III.5. You just make a movie called Star Wars: Triumph of the Republic, then you make 1 movie about Yoda vs. Darth Plaguis and a very young Darth Sidious and how the jedi took back the republic from the sith. There would be no setup, just one movie that gets to the point and has a beginning, middle, and end. That way it would be very interesting, have resolution, and then a couple years later, do a different subject about the Star Wars galaxy and you're not locked into any story. Remember, A New Hope at one time was a single movie, and that one did just fine!
You can stick a lightsaber in the trilgoy, it's done.
Lucas did indeed, say he did think about having a third trilogy 7-9. Where you see how Luke is training young to become Jedis. But they deicided not to and they never will. Unless Lucas's Great great great great great Grandson/daughter does 7-9 and though it may sound cool, would be idiotic and the death of the Trilogy.
