i'm sure ali was better at entertaining the audience, but Bruce is still the better fighter. Ali wouldnt know what the hell to do with what Bruce would throw at him. Bruce broke away from martial arts for the fact, that he thought they were more about balony than anything else. Bruce said that in a real fight, the only thing martial arts is going to teach you is discipline. The unpredictability of a fight makes it nearly impossible to apply the harmonic movements taught in most martial arts. So started incoperating aspects of many different arts into one, in order to break away from a certain style. Bruce trained harder than any boxer or olympic gymnist trains. He focused not on the movements of martial arts but the philosophy and the pratical aspect. Bruce trained and designed an art for a fight without rules. Ali ttrained for a fight that is structured around rules. Bruce had explosivness that is still acknowledged and aspired after by all the top pratictioners today. Bruce was also the top featherweight of his college. Ali , is probably one of the only boxers that understood boxing fully, but Bruce understood fighting like no other.

I never said he'd win hands down.. I just feel he's a little faster than Ali since he's not just limited to punching is all

Muhammad Ali is tougher and he always talk the talk and walk the walk.
Originally posted by whirlysplatits all about the spot that is struck.. which means more targets for Lee since he uses his whole body... Ali is limited to upper body strikes (from the waist up)... point is you can be 500 lbs of muscle.. but if you get kicked in the balls its going to hurt 😄
Its hilarious new people to a thread never read back and think little people really can beat big people. Hilarious, what about weight divisions😄

Yes,but Bruces system was flawed. It wasn't tested. He disigned it,but never proved it's effectiveness and even to this day it's never been properly used. The Gracies where the first to give us a real street fighting art.The problem with every martial art up until the creation of BJJ was their was never any proper testing of an art. While boxing may be limited, boxers are fighting constanly, opposed to most martial artist who train constantly.
yeah, your completley right. I never meant to say that Bruce would win simply because he conceptualized an art. I meant to use that as a an example of his complete understanding of fighting. Any kind of fighitng method is flawed because fighting is unpredictable. Ali may have actually fought frequently, but he still fought inside rules. He doesnt know how to gaurd himself against grapples, or kicks, unless he sought this knowledge out. There are certain ways on how to counter grapples and kicks. Bruce understood and practiced the whole of fighting, not just a structered system of rules.
Well, it is all opinion. These were both great fighters. Ali is probably the better tradtional fighter, just because he has a visible track record. however, i htink it would come down to who was having the better day. No matter how conditioned Bruce was, i'm sure a straight on slug from ali, would take some of the shake out of his milk. The same however can be said for Bruce,s sidekicks. This would be one hell of a match. Of course you would have to throw in jackie chan, and clint eastwood. 🙂 i thought clint was a good choice because he trained with a big ass monkey. LOL
Hmmm. I can't really say, when one is dealing with two such high class, experienced men, two of the best one imagines in their respective fields in their day. Still, I would imagine a skilled martial artist would overcome a skilled boxer most of the times. Unless of course the boxer got in a couple of good blows before the martial artist could get into the flow of it. But from what I have seen the speed and flexibility of a good martial artist is a big plus, as is being able to use a larger percentage of ones body offensively.
And bah, John Wayne, the Duke, is far more uber then Clint. (well maybe not, but eh, I think is Wayne's cooler and more iconic then Clint)
