Erm...they are already part of the Republic. The Republic contained millions of world trillions of citizens. And Revan...well...did you see him use diplomacy somewhere ? He is a military genious. Yes. A diplomatic genious like Dooku or Palpatine. I doubt it.
Not to mention that those planets who had army's yes did not have much of a space force to speak off. A full bombardment from space could take out entire planets and Revan could fight Genghis Khan style.. Take out one planet and the next will submit, if it doesn't take it out and then the next one will.
Erm...full bombardment from space ? The "richer" planets in RotS times have planatary shield, turbo lasers, ion cannons which can stand an attack from the whole fleet of the later Galactic Empire. Revan has to take them with ground troops and that is the problem. He has no infinite amounts of troops...there are millions of planets. If he gets to a planet with a culture that has a close relation to combat (like the Wookies and so on...) he will lose many of his ground troops.
Personally I hate the entire idea, thinking that Revan could wage a full out war against somebody with superior technology is ridiculous... Hiding running taking out key locations thats what he should do, and then it would be an interesting thing to see something really hard to predict. But right here there are to many chances with planets and all we know for sure is that the republic troop size is a little more then half a million at most.
Since the Republic has only 3 real vital systems to defend (Coruscant, Kamino, Kuat) this would be space battle. No matter what number of ground troops they have. They would outclass Revan by far when it comes to spaceships (Revan only produced Sith Starfighters with the Star Forge).
And a direct attack on the more important Republic planets is impossible since they have planetary defence as stated above.
If planetary sheilds are impervious then no one would even think of conquest.
In a thread that I made long ago, Revan was overall considered to be taticly superior to Thrawn. Thrawn equaled out the territory between the Empire and the Republic when he had only 8 systems to work with and the Republic had thousands. Even though I dont think that Revan is better taticly than Thrawn, this is what is commonly thought so that is what I will go with in this post.
Revan will also have Battle Meditation on his side.
The Star Forge will also help a lot. It can, I believe make several ships per day. Certainly more than KDY. It also can be hidden and would take a very long time for the ROTS people to find.
I think that because of Revan, they will win.
Revan didn't have Bastila yet, this is before his mind was wiped.
Also, only the richest planets had those shields. And in case you are wondering, yes they do exist. In ESB, Admiral Ozzel states that they could not penetrate the shield, and this was with a super star destroyer and several imperal star destroyers. Revan wouldn't have a snowballs chance in hell of getting through those shields.
And the Republic has more than Kaut, it has Corellia, Fondor, Mechis III, the planet near Kamino and several other smaller planets. For some reason I even think that Courscant has a small shipyard. Together they would out build the star forge. And even it were equal, the republic ships had 3 or more times the fire power as Revan ships.
I didn't mean that planetry sheilds dont exist, I ment that they arent impervious. Ozzel had around twenty or ships I think and Revan has several thousand. Ozzel also didnt mean that the sheild would block all that they had to throw at it, he probably ment more on the timescale they were running on.
Your right, Courscant does have a shipyard. No, I dont think that they would outbuild the Star Forge.
Revan did know battle meditation. Bastila was just very good at it.
Actually Darkstar they won't outbuild the Star Forge, Kotor time republic had a lot of shipyards too, but they still talked about the godly speed of revan's production... But the Star Forge is not even a factor here, so all of that shouldn't even matter.
And about the republic out building Revan... Yeah nice, but this thread misses one very important defining factor before any one of us can even decide who wins.
What time does it take place? If it takes place during Rots yeah the Republic is going to have a huge advantage, planets are loyal to them or not but they don't know Revan they would have no reason to join him. They would have no reason to fight with him, and an invasion might turn them against him...
However if it is during Kotor time then Revan will invade, the more powerful republic fleet won't matter because planet after planet will join the hero of the Mandelorian wars willingly, and Revan would get millions of new troops with every new planet he conquers. The time line is very important here.
But seeing as either time line gives one or the other an unfair advantage we should just change the entire idea of the thread.
The republic has what they have nothing more, Revan has what he has nothing more. They can not produce new troops, new ships. Planets will not send their army's to help either side, and people will not join either side. Thats how the battle should be fought.
And if they fight like that, then I think Revan can and will win.
