USH'S STAR WARS GAME- CAMPAIGN II EPISODE III (RENEGADES)- The Hunters Hunted

Hmm...

Are there adjacent caves that we could step into and cut our way through ice into the cave behind it, without conflict?

Oh that's right, start cutting up its home, its really in the mood for that!

Hmm. I don't want to kill this thing, is there any way that Vera-Kin could continue pacifying it while we get past it, so that at least we wouldn't have to kill it?

Why do you want to get past it? Because the answer is no.

I'm working on the logic that its former nest has been made into a working place for the Techno Union.

That's not what you sensed. You sensed that changes had destroyed the eco-system, not that they parked something in these caves.

You couldsn't do it, anyway- as noted before, major engineering work inside this glacier would cause it to collapse.

Hmm...

What does it take to destroy an ecosystem?

These glacial ones can't be very tough, to be honest. There can't have been a major climate change, though, else the glacier wouldn't still be here.

The change has to be physical.

Something physical. Like filling up tunnels due to advancing the freezing process, or making it colder?

It's very much not any colder; important you recognise that.

Then it has to do something with the tunnels, since they looked strange to us, yes?

As if slightly bent out of shape, yes.

How can a tunnel be bent without being constructed upon? Wouldn't it just...you know...break, collapse, cave-in?

Well, as you determined earlier, something is not quite right with this whole glacier. It's formed wrong.

I'm thinking that maybe the Union planted something within the waters of Rekiarius, then froze it over with the desalination devices. Perhaps this Queen Ice Scorpion tried to settle in, but discovered that this is not the ideal glacier, because it is actually not a glacier.

I think you are thinking quite well there, Xeth.

You couldn't build INTO a glacier... but you could create a glacier AROUND something...

What would they put down here, though, a factory?

Nah, not a chance- heavy factories require a considerable amount of stuff that you couldn't hope to get here.

But you aren't looking for a factory, Xeth- you are looking for a hidden base.

So they could have, say, constructed some sort of complex that could float in the water, then freeze over and become a 'glacier.'

The way in has to be in these tunnels somewhere.

Totally impractical- you can't land ships in tunnels. But your instinct there seems pretty good. This glacier is the perfect cover; heck, you are ON it and can't see anything wrong. Absolutely no-one could have spotted this place by chance.

Hangar bays are easily covered; the snow would cover them up between uses pretty fast. But they must have built some surface entrances in somewhere. And you know what you are looking for now!

Just waiting for Marcus' say so for the off in the big fight- I am sure Vlad is happy.
