If we can't find spare employee tags, that's most likely what we would have to do. My only problem with that is that it creates a witness who has to come to eventually, or could be found while still incapacitated. If we can find a way to make it work, however, that makes disabling the camera alot less likely to be investigated. It's possible that we could even retrieve the crate while our service volunteer "works" on the camera, making the process faster and more efficient.
So if we go that way, here's what I think the plan would be:
Dak and Rianna slip into the employee area and snag two (maybe three) uniforms/vests-and-nametags/whatever. One of those needs to be the uniform for service workers/janitors. If we're forced to take uniforms from somebody, we do it quick and hide/ dispose of the body (But this is a last resort and should be avoided, as it leaves evidence.)
Then we head back. Someone who has the skills to tamper with security systems puts on the service uniform, and acquires whatever means are necessary to get to the troublesome camera. Their cover story is that they are doing a routine check on the security cameras.
They disable the camera, and while it's out whoever took the other uniform(s) get a lifter, take the crate, and drive it out. Their cover story is simply that they are making a delivery.
After the lifter is gone, our service worker reactivates the camera and gets back down. From there they can either ditch the uniform or simply walk out to meet with the others.
An extra security measure may be to have everyone else who's not involved in the operation leave through the customer exit, while those involved will be able to go out other exits.
So, sound like a complete and well-developed plan? Or can anyone think of anything to add or change?
If anyone wants to add anything to that, then we can kick off the final plan for this part of the snatch. Otherwise, Galder has nothing to add.
Alright, I guess I'll take the camera, then. I assume the same sort of lifter we're using to get the crate are what I'd use to get to the camera?
Dak quickly pulls on the service uniform and goes up to the camera.
If the camera is inside one of those tinted domes like most stores nowadays, Dak begins to remove the dome.
If there is no dome, Dak waits for a signal from the others that they are ready, apparently intent on examining the wiring on the camera.
Is there a commlink as part of the uniform? Would it be better to let Security know in advance that some cameras might go offline while I'm cleaning them, or should I wait for them to contact me?
I already answered you, Rex. Like I said, the shields are not kept continuously on. Nowhere does that, except Epireus, where the systems are geothermally powered with plenty to spare.
And you have no idea, Rex, do you? Because no-one has actually tried to find these things out.
Incidentally, you may be knackering the cam, but not its security record; the last thing it will record is several very clear shots of Dak disabling it.
Well... sithspit. Not much I can do now, though, is there? Even though I had intended to be BEHIND it, where the WIRING is, which I am CHECKING, where the blasted thing wouldn't SEE me, which would only be COMMON SENSE and EXPECTED.
But hey, who am I to argue with the master of the universe? Another degenerate plan it is.
