"So the Merchants have no money?"

Ush, would a little mind trick to make him skip the question work?( Scan on this guy).

He's suspicious. Frame it right and a Mind Trick will work fine.

"Eh...I have something to my name...somewhere...possibly..." Rand mumbles.

Would " this question is not important" be a suitable wording of Mind Trick? I am not experienced with this, but I assume my character has used Tricks for years- or maybe "My answer was satysfying"?

Don't risk it, Melkor. This is one of those moments where you act like its something you wouldn't know.

I am afraid this is one of those areas where Role-playing becomes important as compared to your character's abilities, Gallador. Like Dexx did, it works better if you can kinda work it into the convo. Qui-Gon was VERY good at that ("Then speed us on our way"😉.

Yes, he was a professional. I hate him...

Jealous, aren`t we, Great Master?

"This is not the question you should ask me."( Mind Trick, it is valid argument because Gallador isn`t familiar with those "merchants). -" I don`t know much about them."

did i shut him up ush? 😛...

"I don't think we've really thought of that," Tanic muses, "Maybe we could buy some defensive systems, laser turrets and the like, on credit that we could pay back through mining. If not, I can always work as a pilot."

You should be careful about actively reminding him about your line of work, Takuan!

"Well," he says, "as you have no direct expertise in these matters, I fail to see why you should be allowed in in of yourself. I shall await the results from your fellows."

Tanic-

"Ah," he says. "So now you wish to buy weapons, is that it?"

-

Gallador

"You don't know much about the Merchants," he says. "Well, very well. If you have the funds and the expertise to buy the technical equipment you need, then subject to export fees you may conduct your business in this city."

-

Rand

"Well, if you have no money of note," he says, "then you can hardly pursue any legitimate business here!"

-

Rianna-

"But as you are not a skilled expert in that area, I fail to see how you can be any use in that."

"Ah," he says. "So now you wish to buy weapons, is that it?"

"Well, yes. We must defend ourselves, and I was not aware te pruchase of weaponry was illegal. Of course, if such is the case on Newhaven, then I shall obviously do my best to stop my comrades from buying any such system.

"How would you suggest we protect ourselves, sir? Without defence, of course."

(Is weapon purchase illegal in the Republic? I wouldn't hav thought so with all thos people carrying guns on Coruscant...

And that italics wasn't a mind trick, just an emphasis on you.)

No, it is not illegal in the slightest, everyone seems to have a gun. A lot depends on the planet itself, of course, but as far as Interstellar regulations go, there is a lot in the way of taxes and such, but no laws.

"Our concern," says the man, "is that such things might fall into the wrong hands."

"Well, tell me what we can do to defend ourselves that would not concern you in some way..." Tanic asks, "Maybe we should hire an army?"

So my interview has basically ended?

"but you also do not see a reason why you should NOT let me in, as long as i don't break the law." says Takuan

make that more of a persuasion

Gallador, yup.

Takuan- that won't really work, as he will be conferring with others, and don't have Law with which to make a specific objection. We'll see how your story relates to the others.

Tanic-

"I really don't care what you do in general; it's what you do here that I am concerned about."

So what happened to Xavier.

Sorry, Xavier, missed that one.

"Well, we can't let you in without a practical purpose!" he says.
