Your interviewer is very sorry to hear that, though he does need to note your profession, for the records. He'd also be interested to hear how you survived.

"I'm part of a mining group and we work closely with a group of merchants who supply our bast. We had just finished helping unload a shipment from the merchants so I was still near the hangar at the time of the attack."

Tanic-

"Your ships look rather well-armed for 'non-combative people," he remarks.

And by security- he means, what makes you think it is safe to go back?

-

Rianna-

"Really? How interesting. How long have you been a miner? Where did you learn your trade?"

-

Xavier-

"I understand... but I would still like an eye-witness report from you of the order of events of the attack on your facility as you saw it."

-

Takuan-

"I don't need to know any more about your line of work," he says. "But I do need to know what you intend to re-supply with."

-

Gallador-

"I agree, no need to take your papers out on a short trip like that, going nowhere else," says your interviewer. "And by the exact same logic, it occurs to me... that you also don't have any money."

Well while we were out inspecting the asteroids the pirates must have come fron another direction. Me and Allatar saw some ships take off out of the hanger heading our direction. They radioed to us what had happened. Then we jumped to hyperspace towards Newhaven.

"Those of us that escaped from the actual base( merchants came with supply, so they were in the hangar at the moment actual attack happened) had much money with them because of conducting a huge transaction. This was mostly money used for running this operation, our common "budget", so it belongs to us all."

"technical parts. to see if there is anythign rebuildable back there." says Takuan "maybe some food and drinks..but mostly mechanical parts. that is why we came to this civilised spot...looking for a good price"

"Because our papers got put in pirate ashtrays," Galder replies, feeling a strong urge to strangle the man instantly.

(Oi...this is fun...)

"What do I sell?" Rand asks. "I used to sell hand tools...hydrospanners and the like...before those blasted pirates took them all or destroyed my packages."

"Ah," Tanic tells him, "What I mean is that we were not equipped to fight a raiding force. We simply didn't have the numbers to make it a fight for the base.

"Security-wise, I guess we made a group assumption that we would try our best to rebuild. Obviously I can't talk for the others, but I don't see why the pirates would raid a place they've just half-destroyed. We all knew there was risk when we signed up."

Rianna-

"Really? How interesting. How long have you been a miner? Where did you learn your trade?"

"I only have been about a year. I was looking for work, they needed more people to help. I mostly learned from the rest of our group."

Heya GordonSkywalker...took you long enough to try and get out of banment... 😛

And that's really creepy.

Tanic-

"Strikes me as a perfect time to raid, when a bunch of unprotected survivors have just returned with lots more equipment to steal. How exactly do you propose to protect yourselves?"

-

Rand-

"And where did you sell things?" he asks. "What are your markets?"

Rand, you sense there is trouble here. You have a bad feeling that it is very easy to contradict someone else with this line of reasoning.

-

Rianna-

"Oh..." he says. "So you are not actually an accredited miner, then? Not a member of the Guild or any recognised institution?"

-

Galder-

"We're not a charity," says your interviewer. "Regardless of your loss, I can only let you in if I think there is a legitimate reason to do so. Give me such a reason."

-

Takuan-

"I see," he says. "And how long do you intend to stay?"

-

Xavier-

"I understand. Just satisfy my curiosity here; what were you inspecting the asteroids for, and by what means?"

"well..i assume a week or two should be enough to get everything. we don't want to stay longer than we need to, you can be sure of that"

do a persuasion roll with that last one (with the skill persuasion, not the mindtrick)

Listen I am a laborer I don't inspect the asteroids I was just invited to go along.
My shift was over a friend asked me to come with him to inspect asteroids.
I don't anything about that technical mumbojumbo stuff end of story.

Rianna-

"Oh..." he says. "So you are not actually an accredited miner, then? Not a member of the Guild or any recognised institution?"

"Me? No, I'm not. Like I said, I've only been doing this a year, I'm pretty much still learning."

"I usedp to sell them to worlds on the Outer Rim...like Tatooine! But that was a long time ago. Pirates attacked me then, too, and I've been attacked by pirates several times!" Rand rambles on, acting slightly like he's either off his rocker or he's drunk. "But no, I tried to find a job as a miner...who'd attack a miner? They have nothing of worth...but no, we got attacked...*hic*..."

"This place is the closest civilized world," Galder replies, propping his boots up on the representative's desk. "What, you want us to go further into the Outer Rim to escape pirates? Hah! Not gonna happen."

Hey Ush, could my Law skill come in handy somewhere?

Galder-

"Where you go if refused entry is no concern of mine. But if refused entry here, you are refused entry to the Republic as a whole. Understand this; I am only here to safeguard the regulations and laws pertaining to this matter. What happens to you... I don't give a damn about."

-

Rand-

"Sounds like you have fallen on very hard times," he says.

-

Gallador-

"If the Merchants are only providing supplies to your base, why do these two disparate groups share their wealth? Surely that money is theirs, not yours?"

-

Rianna-

"So you have no belongings, no skills, and no money. What was it you wanted to do on this world, again?"

-

Xavier... he says pretty much the same thing to you as Rianna.

-

Takuan-

"Very well," he says. "If you are planning to export technical parts, I will need a list of what you intend to buy. There will be duties to pay."

"Well, I think that's pretty damned cold," Galder replies. "The Republic ain't so nice a place these days, I take it?"

(You gave me the bitchy one, thanks a lot!)

"Too many people are too willing to take advantage of the... freedoms... that the Republic gives. All entrants must justify their entry. What possible reason do we have to let you in?"
