Well, money was not an in-built need of the story, but it is the way negotiations seemed to go- especially as you have no demonstrable credibility of yourselves. You can try and work around that, or you can try and get some cash- but I do strongly warn against spreading out your criminal activities!

Don't be silly. Gallador said it as unwise to disboey your boss. That's virtually a threat and it undid anything you achieved earlier- so as he said, trouble with your boss is YOUR problem, not his. The fact that you might get into trouble, he doesn't give a tiny damn about.
He doesn't want to deal with you because you are being not at all convincing; the two of you seem to be talking on entirely different wavelengths.
Think about why they want the money.

they want the money as reassurance that we won't back off...or that we're capable of acquiring it.
what i was trying to induce to them, is the idea that we cannot present the money because we don't have it..our boss does...and he gives the green light only after we say we saw it.
