When or how did Doc Samson's strength go from being able to lift 70 tons, to 25 tons?

That was actually a typographical error in Samson's bio:

Samson is still a 70 ton class character.

As I understand it though, his strength is proportional to the length of his hair,
so, does long hair (whatever that length may be) mean 70 tons?

I'm assuming that's the cake right there, so imo, yes.

okay, haven't posted for a while, got a question.

I was recalling, the other day, a statement made the other day, by Professor Ivo, in Meltzer's Red Tornado arc on JLA (Tornado's Path?).

Anyways, he stated something along the lines of their being twelve (?) true immortals who walk the DC Earth, which got my wondering which ones there were.

So, anyways, lets eliminate supernatural entities (Nabu, the wizard Shazam, Mordru, Boston Brand, vampires, Etrigan), aliens who look like they'll live forever or people using technology (Superman and the Manhunter, in the DC One Million continuity, Sodam Yot and R'as a Ghul in the 31st century), and gods, angels, and elementals, mythical concepts, and the like (The Pantheons, the Endless, the New Gods, the Princess of Gemworld, Swamp Thing and Firestorm, Phantom Stranger, Lucifer, Mxyzptlk, Uncle Sam), and people who gained immortality through some sort of empowerment from a supernatural being (Captain Marvel, Black Adam, Kid Eternity, Dr. Fate).

So basically, humans who became immortal who don't rely on a sentient outside power source for it.

Okay, so lets see:

Vandal Savage
The Shade
Immortal Man/Resurrection Man (their immortality counts as the same)
Professor Ivo
Anton Arcane
Circe
Mogain Le Fey
Doctor Mist
Doctor Occult
Felix Faust
Madam Xanadu
Tim Hunter (survives till the end of time)
Hob Gandling
Multi-Man

Should we eliminate the ones who use magic to preserve their lives? Or do you think they count for Ivo's list? According to Sandman, back when it was part of standard continuity, there were many incredibly long lived people (like those who remember "the true Atlantis, upon which all others are based), though few "true immortals." Can we count Carter and Shiera? They 'die' and are reborn.... but by that criteria, Ressurection Man is off the list too, although you could make the distincstion that he retains his memories (most of the time).

And I guess we can eliminate the Vertigo ones, since by the time of Ivo's statement, most of them weren't in regular DC continuity.

Thoughts? Who are we missing? Who doesn't count? lets see how close to the "true twelve" we think we can come.

What about Arion?

Arion! Good one.

Should we count Atlanteans (and their offshoot, homo magi, like Zatara, Traci Thirteen, or Zatanna) as humans, though?

Would Jason Blood count?

By Immortals,do you mean those that simply don't age?

If your using that criteria, Jason Blood is a big one.

Is he only immortal because of Etrigan, or is his immortality party of Merlin's curse?

It varies depending on who's writing.Though he has been separated from Etrigan in the past without insta-death.

Wow. I love the answer to my query. I really appreciate the witty repartee, and very intuitive answer. I didn't think of it that way.

Maybe if you didn't post in annoying all caps, you'd get more answers.

This is a question about DC Continuity.

It has to do with Zero Hour WiT. The entire time line was reset, so the CoIE that occured for the character we know today, would not be the CoIE that occured before Zero Hour. Remember, the whole time line happened again.

All the characters showing up, who are supposedly PC are just post Zero Hour variations. The same goes for Barry Allen.

So the original Crisis isn't even the same anymore?

COIE was multiversal, so I don't think Zero Hour reset all of it.

Besides, wasn't Hal stopped before he could make any really major changes?

Another question: Would the Ovoid Mind Transfer Technique work on a robot/cyborg?

during zero hour, DC wasn't a true multiverse like it was during COIE [that history had already been altered by AM/spectre]. therefore, it wouldn't have been an option for parallax to 'reset' more than the 1 complete universe of which DC was composed at the time [which is exactly what he did].

I have a question about the Sinestro corps storyline. In Green Lantern #21 and #22 Hal fights Parallax whilst it has possessed Kyle. Parallax shows Hal's fear which is the loss of his Dad. There was an empty speech bubble before Hal's Dad died to show that hal didn't know his Dad's last words and the following issue also referred to this. Has it been cleared up anywhere as to what Papa Jordan said in his final moments? It's been really bugging me......

Ok I read the Sinestro Corps storyline and I'm waiting for the Red Lanterns one to come out, but I still don't know the answer to the question above. Anyone know?

It's unresolved.

Rage of the Red Lanterns looks awesome...
