they always make the allusion that Batman and Joker are the same kind of person

this has probably been explained alot already, but i thought batman was sent into the past at the end of Final Crisis. if thats true, how is his corpse being used in blackest night? also why is batman considered insane? all the heroes wear spandex and batman doesn't kill as far as i know.

Only his soul was sent into the past, Superman is holding his corpse in Final Crisis

How did that work? Did Darkseid intend that or did it happen because his "the Batman"? How did Batman attain a physical body to draw the warning on the cave?

I think Metron gave him the body, or something.

Darkseid used the Omega Sanction, which specifically targets the soul

I didn't know that. Makes sense I guess.

Oh, I must have missed that.

If he used the Omega Sanction than how is his soul intact? Just wondering.

I always hated telling the difference between all of his "Omega" attacks.

Omega Sanction doesn't necessarily kill- and doesn't, by necessity, target the soul.

It's sent Sonny Sumo into a parallel universe, turned Secret from a spirit into a human, and sent Slobo into the future.

Hmmm, I recall those instances. I just placed it under, the versatility of his "Omega" powers. I stopped caring between the difference of the Omega Force, the Omega Beams, Omega Sanction and so on a long time ago.

I thought though, that his intention was to kill Batman at that point. Wasn't it?

not trying to wank batman, but it might also be possible that his soul simply cannot be extinguished.

i recall mxy stating that batman/superman are universal necessities to DC - "the linchpins to everything" as he put it. mxy also went on to say that without them, the universe is basically thrown into an armageddon of sorts. so perhaps a 'higher power' than darkseid simply did not allow bats to be perma-killed? afterall, that's why spectre could not kill darkseid or phantom stranger... *shrug*

How would life have existed before Bruce was born then?

Just seems....iffy.

The soul could have always existed outside of a state of being born. Some sort of pre-life state or something. Or the powers that be could have been holding back the flood gates until Bruce was born. then after than stopped doing so.

I recall Mxy refrencing their importance as well. Well makes sense. As seen in Booster Gold, the DCU basically dies, without Batman and his prep. You also have Superman's importance shown in Superman: Beyond.

Just when I thought they couldn't take it any further. They go ahead and do it.......

perhaps the universe itself has come to depend on batman's [and superman's] existence within it?

regardless, i'd go to the bank on pretty much anything mxy says... especially where creation-spanning ordeals are concerned:

More or less what Alex Luthor says about Superman during IC ( "Everything comes from Superman)", and what Rip Hunter says about Batman in Booster Gold.

👆

and confirmed statements from alex, rip, AND mxy = nearly unquestionable evidence, imo.

You can also add to that list the Phantom Stranger during the JLA/Avengers crossover- Superman is "inseparably" tied to the fabric of the DCU.

Where would you guys rank Prime of the Ultraverse in relation to Superman and all the other wannabes? I don't know if he's necessarily a Supes rip-off, but I don't know what other character group to compare him to?

So.

In this week's New Avengers, anyone have any guesses why Hawkeye gets taken down by the power drainer?

It's clearly not just Bendis continually f*cking with Clint- he has Mockingbird specifically wonder why Clint goes down but she doesn't, so he knows that something is up. He even gives a more or less adequate reason for Bucky being taken down by it (is arm is freaking out)...

So, what do you think the deal is with Clint?

What about the whole Trinity thing, doesn't that confirm it more?

^ yes. trinity also confirms that it is in superman's "essential nature" to dominate ANY setting.
