The Fith Dimension is pretty much self explanatory. Its just another plane of existence. The power levels of the beings from this Dimension is pretty much expected. If there was a two Dimensional universe with 2 Dimensional entities we would have similar levels of power. Thanks to Kant, even if these realms did exist we wouldn't be able to fathom them, becasue of the ways our brains prescribe time and space to our sense data.

So noumenal beings like 5D Imps would have to translate themselves to suit our perceptions wouldn't they?

Oh I like youre use of the word noumenal there. Very apropriate. Thats is very clever. But yeah they would do .... but there would probably be a lot lost in translation, e.g. like translating maths, to ants !

Also I agree 5D Imps shouldn't be constrained to the magical rules of the 3D world. That whole scene in Countdown where Annataz had Mxy imprisoned and depowered was PIS.

P.S. you are right ... anyone who understands the basic concepts of these characters should know that imprisoning someone from a higher dimension is nearly impossible ... but logically possible - read Michu Kacku's, Hyper SPace to understand. 🙂

Actually, In a Kantian sense noumenal, means something a bit different, i.e. he means it in a metaphysical sense, but who cares ???

Something that could not be directly perceived correct? And that is what the 5D Imps are. We aren't suited to seeing in 5 Dimensions. So what we would see would only be an incomplete phenomenal vision and their true selves would be noumenons. Or maybe I misinterpreted what Kant meant by noumenon and phenomenon. 😕

Really off topic, but I really like talking about this stuff .... but u are right; it originally meant beyond/ < experience ( A posterior), but eventually it was used to illustrate our transcendental MORAL selfs. However ignoring Kant's moment of madness (that isn't that mad, because it would make sense in an ideal world), u are right, about its use ... which is why I got so excited, about your use of it, earlier.lol 🙂

Alright, thanks for clarifying. 🙂

Or if we wanted to see a more comic-y version of that idea, we can look at the 5-D war in Morrison's JLA. As Qwisp puts it, "I can fold your laws of physics and wear them as a silly party hat if I wanted."

That was such a good storyline. I love the fact that Uber entities such as the Quintessence, and Hourman were helpless in the face of such a disaster.- So many good parts, Captain Marvel realistically knocking out Superman, Green Lantern fast forwarding the evolution of the Spectre planet, The Superman Triumph fight.

Morrison and Rucka portrayed Imps as they were meant to be portrayed. Imo, current DC staff trying to put 5-D powers within the confines of generalized DC magic is just a way for them to avoid extrapolating on how a 5th dimensional powerset might work. Or perhaps they (DC writers) don't really understand the concept behind the 5th dimension in general, so it's just easier (for them) to dub an Imps abilities as "magic".

Meh.

Okay, this has been driving my bananas. There was this big blue guy that challenged Superman, who said "Bring it" more or less, and the blue guy unloaded on Sups, knocking him on his ass with one punch. I think it was in a Justice League story since immediately after WW and Batman were like "What? Did that just happen?"

I can't remember the big blue guy's name for the life of me. He had a small monkey like guy on his shoulder.

Anyone care to help me remember?

Konvikt. It happened in the abomination that was Trinity.

Trinity wasn't that bad

i've only read the first six issues, but i agree. sucked

To make a hyperlink, just do the following...

{url=*insert thread link here*}*insert the title you want to display here*{/url}

Replace these: "{ }" with these: "[ ]"

---

For instance, if I wanted to make a hyperlink to this particular thread, it'd look like this:

Thanks a million.

Heh. I'd ask what was so bad about it, but something tells me I'd start to derail the topic.
