I like the theory, but in
Godhunter we saw Galactus nearly starve to
death, and he didn't even contemplate draining any of his heraldS (plural.) Tbh if he was already in an emaciated state, I doubt taking back the PC from his heralds would give him much of a boost anyway. It would likely be the equivalent of drinking a Red Bull when you're really hungry -- ie. a short-lived pick-me-up followed by the inevitable crash.
Personally I just think that Galactus would rather conserve his energy for more pressing matters, then waste it endlessly scouring the universe for worlds to feed on. With his underlings in place, all he has to do is send them on 'missions', then simply wait for the proverbial dinner bell to ring. Much more efficient.
....Plus if G does begin to starve, his heralds offer an added degree of protection against any threats that may arise.
