Your Opinion of Movie Downloading?

Started by bone_collector3 pages

Some of you are wasting you're time talking about this.
In first place, if you download a movie and if it's a screener and you still watch it than you're just a looser who doesn't appreciate movies and by the way.....
this is not pirating. Copying it and redistributing it is pirating.
And second : if you got a quality movie from the net just watch it.
Because let's face it ( see the debate on " good trailer but bad movie" ) they're killing us with this method of presenting you a damn good trailer , giving you high hopes, and when you see the movie you realize that all the good scenes were the ones in the trailer.
It's damn frustrating........ So what if you cheat, THEY DO IT TO
Who's with me !!!! 💃

It is pirating. By definition, pirating means to copy, distribute, or use without authorization esp. in infringement of copyright. Making use of, as in watching. You're just as guilty as the person who put it on the web.

I've seen 21 movies thus far in 2005, paid to see them all in the theatres. You people that non-chalantly download films, while the rest of us show our appreciation, well, quite frankly, you can go to hell.

Big news: I've already got Sister Act 3 on DVD.

Shh!!!!

You damn dirty pirate! Here, accept a one way ticket to the underworld. Courtesy of me.

LOL

I remember my friend got X-Men on his computer one time when it was at the theater. The picture was so small and crappy it was a waste of time.

Well, by pirating Sister Act 3, you're essentially denying Whoopi Goldberg money that could potentially lead to her Hollywood comeback.

(THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!)

whats everyones stance on burning rented dvds?

That's even more of a violation, because not only are some DVD's encoded to where they can;t be burned, there's a warning at the beginning, regarding prosecution of copyright infringement.

I agree with you, but you don't have to be so direct. I to rather wait to see them in theater or on dvd, cause I am a Maniac when it comes to movies, I can only see them in full quality ( both picture and sound) and with no one to disturbe me while I'm watching them. I pay total attention when I'm watching a movie.
As I sad the ones who are looking at movies from the net ( screeners)
are just loosers who don't give a thing on the work of others. 😠

Movie downloading is very bad. Even though maybe some people dont want to pay money to see it, it is pretty unfair to the whole movie company and all, I mean, they made the movie and some people are just getting em off the net without paying anything. Imagine if around 3/4 - 4/4 of all the people that want to see a movie download it? The makers and all will go broke. Think about franchises, if too many people download one of the series, the movie makers and company wont be able to afford to make another episode or series.

I've never downloaded a movie, but I recently purchased an ibook so I'm keen to try. I heard that it can sometimes take up to 3 days!?!?! Is this true? Also, how badly does the quality suffer? I don't think it would ever make me stop buying DVDs because the consumer in me likes having a collection of precious things...However, living where I live it's difficult to get some of the weird, quirky films that I love...

Y dun u guy try ares where most of the movie frm dvd rip...

YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A HANDBAG.

YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A TV.

YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A MOVIE.

DOWNLOADING PIRATED MOVIES IS STEALING.

STEALING IS AGAINST THE LAW.

DON'T BUY INTO IT.

MOVIE PIRACY: IT'S A CRIME

God that ad is lame...

...but it's right. nono

It's not right! Who are 'they' to tell us who we can and can not share our things with?

Uhh... the Government.

Ever hear of Copyright violation?

Have you ever lent a dvd or a cd to a friend?

Lending a DVD to a friend is much different to dowloading a movie (or song, for that matter)... when you download a movie you are effectively making a copy of it, which I'm pretty sure would be an infringement on the copyright.

There are however legalities here which don't make it necessarily 'illegal' to download a movie... This ad is misleading:

DOWNLOADING PIRATED MOVIES IS STEALING.

STEALING IS AGAINST THE LAW.

MOVIE PIRACY: IT'S A CRIME

Indeed it is a crime... however, it is only a crime if money is being made out of it. (IE purchasing actual pirated DVDs). Therefore downloading a movie is not really a crime at all. Though it is against the law. What would result, though, is a civil suit, not a criminal one. (At least, that's my understanding of it - I could be wrong)

Legalities aside, it is of my opinion that it is a very immoral thing to do. If you provide a good or service to someone you expect to be paid for it. You wouldn't like to not paid for the work you do would you?

I occasionally donate myself to charity. As for it being 'immoral', I guess you should put on your Jesus-sandals and go find Moses...
