I'm a Christian, but I reckon masturbating is fine. Although I think by "lust" they mean if you already have a girlfriend or a wife or something.

Yes, It's the spilling of seed by Tamars husbands....When one husband died, then it was custom for her to marry the deceased husbands brother...when he died, the father in law would not give her to the next brother in line....so she made her self a (fake prostitute) and slept with the father.....He wasn't aware it was her...

It's a sin according to the OT scriptures to waste seed..

Masturbation is the deliberate stimulation of the sexual organs in order to derive sexual pleasure" (CCC 2352). The Church teaches that sex has two main purposes that must be sought in the marriage act: sex is for reproduction of children within a valid marriage, and it is a loving, unifying act between husband and wife. Masturbation violates both aspects of the natural law and is thus a grave sin.

However with aspects to the "forgivenness" it has to follow the rules to be forgiven
