Mace was good, but not better then Yoda.
and (in my opinion) not better then Palpatine either. I stick to the fact that palps let him win. i mean did you see him in his fight with Yoda after, if he had being doing that against Mace mace would have got owned, even in saber techniques. palps saber abilities were far Superior whilst fighting yoda. which goes to show that he was not really giving it his all with mace. maybe he underestimated windu. who knows, but mace is definitely not the best.
i mean palps was laughing at Yoda in thier fight, laughing. and Yoda IS the best. that was the point of palps vs. Yoda, the best against the best. and yoda had to lose to show that the jedi could not defeat the sith. and needed "a new hope"
windu was 3rd with Anakin being pretty close.
