Is KOTOR better than ROTS?

Started by Revolver Ocelot36 pages

It caught me completely off guard. I thought I was just an above average force sensitive, like Luke or someone... but the badass Darth Revan himself? Wow...

Most people who said they saw it coming probably had it spoiled for them. The plot twist was so well executed only the most attentive could pick it out.

I thought it was pretty damn obvious, but my brother was surprised.

I had my suspicions. Plus, once you get down it, the plot is just trying to stop yet another Sith Lord and save the galaxy again.

Perhaps that was because you were expecting a plot twist.

Haha, but that is the story of so many epic movies and books. It is how the story is told that makes KOTOR so great

I don't really think KotOR was that great as an overall story. The idea of "go to random planets, solve local problems and stumble across the mystical Star Forge" (Which is always in some locale where you KNOW someone would have found it and sold it for scrap. I mean, Naga Sadow's tomb? Bottom of the ocean right next to the largest concentration of kolto on Manaan?) and from there you "find bad guy's power and destroy it".

What's so obvious about that? Well for one thing, you KNOW that the good guy is going to confront the bad guy. There's tons of foreshadowing on how your main character is Revan. There's tons of foreshadowing that Bastila is liable to fall to the dark side. There's tons of foreshadowing of everything, really. The only thing that genuinely surprised me in that game was when the old fart admitted he recognized your character as Revan. That's it. Hell, I even guessed Juhani was from Taris before she broke down and admitted it.

Granted, ROTS isn't going to win any award for great story, but in sheer terms of legacy and anticipation, it WTFpwns KotOR.

Meh... the OT pwns over ROTS.

Yeah, I agree with that. OT was much better, and it had less to work with.

Yea... I remember growing up with the OT. I first watched it when I was five (although Vader scared me😛). It just has that original feel to it that the PT or any other SW product can't match.

It's probably the charm involved...the PT never matches it

I felt quite a bit of charm in the PT.

Everyone always tells me they knew way before hand that they were Revan. I personally don't understand how anyone could have figured it out. Sure you knew something about your character was not right... but to be Revan himself?

I sure as hell didnt see it.

I'd refer have forshadowing than only Vader being in the last five minutes, and delivering the worst dialog in the Saga.
KotOR had depth, which ROTS didnt, and KotOR two is far more of a thinking mans game. KotOR was better written, it atleast didnt have Grevious going out like a B!tch.

And thank god KotOR didnt have Hayden.

Now I know even you have heard of the Edit button.

No, Nactous is a firm believer in triple posting.

umm
KOTOR is cool and all, but i think i like ROTS because its a more original and "written my Horhey(george)"

Deus is right.

If you're talking about 'importance', well it's no competition. The movies are the most important things to the Star Wars universe. If there hadn't been the movies, there likely would have never been a Star Wars franchise for the games to be created.

KOTOR one game of the year. An excellent award, no doubt, but if you were to ask the world of which is more popular: the games or the movies, they'd say the movies.

Now, the rest of the argument would be a repeat of Deus's true and final words. So re-read them.

We are not talking about what's more important. Duh the movies are more Important, and I sallute the OT... but we are talking about what is beter, and that's KOTOR!

I'm sorry, but how was Grievous worse than, say...Calo Nord or Darth Bandon? And no, KOTOR didn't have Hayden...had Carth and Bastilla and Mission though. And tried to establish its own SW rules rather than bother to change itself to fit in...why the hell does Naga Sadow have a tomb? It will forever be a mystery!

Thank you. And really, it's a shame for all these kids to say "KOTOR is better". It's a slap in the face to the people who worked hard to make the most anticipated Star Wars movie ever.

I also still stand by this.

Rightfully so.
