Animagi

What is the significance of the Animagi in the HP Universe? What decides what animagi a person can be? Does the person decide themselves, or does their magic decide for them, or what? Will we see any new Animagi? Who's your favourite Animagi?

...Just a few quezzies to start everyone off! 😄

I reckon Trevor (Neville's toad) could turn out to be an Animagi. He's stayed with Neville for over five years now, so I think Trevor could be:

a) a long lost (and presumed dead) member of the Order of the Phoenix (or another kindly wizard) that is keeping an eye on the other Prophecy Boy

or

b) a Death Eater or similar, keeping track of the 2nd Prophecy Boy and everything he does or that happens to him

JK said that the animagi of a person is determined by their character.

I think hermione might be a rabbit. ron a dog as he is so loyal. and harry... i don't know. probably a stag like his father?

Hermione would be an otter, that is the form her patronus took and the author's favourite animal.

i thought of that too. but i was thinking that a person's anamagi might not necessarily be the patronus right? that'd take all the fun... everything takes the same animal...

Don't think so, and it would make sense. A patronus is a reflection on the wizard who conjured it.

but rita skeeter (is that her name?) woman's animagi is a beetle. then her patronous is a beetle? small beetle? large beetle? wouldn't it be wierd?

yes i think it makes sense that Trevor can be an animagi. do you notice that Neville seems to lose his toad very often but always seem to find it elsewhere? it might be that Trevor often goes back to report to whoever he's giving service to and then comes back shortly, appearing to be lost and then found again.

that's possible! but if this theory stands then he will have to be unregistered animagi. as there will be record right? then someone (like malfoy) will eventually figure out. so he have to be unregistered.

Everyone thinks hes dead. It wouldn't matter if they look at the list.

But i think it was mentioned that he went missing that's why people thought he's dead. so it is possible that he's not dead and i believe that people like malfoy are smart enough to think of this possibility.

Possible, but I highly doubt a Malfoy would come to that. But none the less possible.

Are you sure JK said an Animagi reflected a person's personality? I thought that only was with Patronus... I thought you could choose what you wanted to become.

And anyway, that is an interesting idea with the lost and found Trevor thing...

Is Rita Skeeter powerful enough or an important enough character to be able to conjure a patronus halfbloodprincess?

Rita Skeeter as brains the size of........ does -1 inch exist? I don't think she can do a Patronus(sp?)

No an animagi is something which you have a natural affinity with she jokes about how embarrassing it would be to study hard for all those years only to find out that you'll turn into a ...i cant remember what she said but something like a snail bud or something..... not just because you like them something that suits your character best....just thinking like really mad though but ok what about if Godric Gryffindor was an animagi...like each house had individual gifts....Slytherin was a parseltongue what is Godric Gryfindor was a animagi and he turned into a Phoenix......mad but possible.......just seemed interesting.... 📖
