When people used to tell me about God and had the tenacity to say "believe in this", my response was "why should I believe in something I just plain don't believe in?" That's like asking me to believe that the world's gonna end tomorrow, when I have no reason to believe it's gonna end tomorrow. So what, there's gonna be repercussions for me because I won't blindly accept something like the world coming to an end tomorrow???
But then that Jesus guy found me and things changed...as it has for millions of others.
Pretty wild.
...In case any non-Christians out there are starting to think that there might be something to this Jesus stuff (which is actually an indication that God has already found you), then here's what you can do...
Here's a 5 min video that says it all...

Pit, your stuff's amazing...I'd never seen it. Holy smokes! (no pun)

God is in the heart of Christians...not man in general. Before I became a Christian I had a spirit without Christ...the Spirit of Adam (who wasn't necessarily an actual person like some extreme Christians tend to believe, but a metaphor in God's creation). His spirit (the spirit of man) is sinful in nature (if there's any doubt of this just look at our pathetic human history).
Now, when God actually does enter people's hearts through Christ, they're given new life...they became a new creation with the Spirit of Jesus. Jesus is the hope of man to be reconciled to God (and if you if there's any doubt about that, read what the guy says about how we should treat each other as humans, how we should live our lives, etc...).
The great thing is, now that Christ is in me, I am being transformed to becoming a more loving, productive, and complete human being without even really trying (again, a lot of hardcore Christians who think it's up to them to do that stuff have totally missed the point).
And I don't feel the need to spread the word...People who actually do feel the need to do so really don't get it. I just want to spread the word (and I rarely ever do it) because it's the coolest, most amazing thing in the world being a Christian. It basically shows you the real world and your place in it.
Of course you don't believe me, but some day you might...who knows?

But it's typical (no offence) that what your statement implies is that being a Christian means doing certain things and not others.
The ONLY thing being a Christian means is that a phenomenon known as Jesus Christ has come into your heart and is transforming you. That's it.
A lot of Christians like to think that being a Christian means doing certain "Christian" things, because that's an easy way to try and measure their worth and feel good about were they think they stand as Christians. However, there is NOTHING they can do to be a better Christian other than simply trusting in their new identity in Jesus, and trusting Him to live His life through them.
Somehow, it's so much harder for a lot of people to do that, and then the tendency is for a lot of them to try to be "good" Christians by doing "Christian" things or performing good works or whatever...because they think that way they're safe. You can be a "good" Christian and still smoke weed, although eventually, you'll just not want to do it anymore.
Final note: It's amazing how pop culture Christianity is so skewed from the real message of the Bible on so many levels. Non-Christians actually think we have to follow the 10 Commandments. Amazing. I guess I don't blame them...'cause a lot of Christians think that as well, unfortunately.

Not as often as the religious.
They're actually about the same, honestly.
I love it when Atheists complain about Catholics or Muslims killing the most people or killing people for going against them when:

Sure, the Catholics killed around 4 mill to 5 mill in the crusades, killed 70K in the Roman Inquisition, 30K in the Spanish Inquisition and another mill in the Medieval Inquisition.
And yeah, the Muslims bumped off over five hundred thousand people during the medieval ages.
But honestly, what tops over 262 million deaths during dictatorships during the medieval ages that were sorely against religion? (This includes Stalin, outside of MA.)
I don't know. Jeez.
That's just ONE single instance where Atheists are hypocrites. I won't get into everything; Don't have time to sit in front of my PC for days.

Your reason and references are very flawed and skip over many important facts.

No, you're looking for more excuses to bash religion. I could say there was a lot of things I didn't go over when it came to X and Y, Pittman.
Stalin believed in god? This is news to me. Is this top secret classified information only you know?
I didn't think so.
Karl Marx wasn't religious either and he packed down a pretty nice sized dent in that atheist murder number you're glancing at.
Same with polish dictators during the dark/medieval ages (NOT INCLUDED IN THE 262 MILL I LISTED) that weren't religion and prayed upon those who were during their plots to dominate as much land as possible.
