Thats a hard one to tell, ussually country's won't want to use them right away.. At least not from what we have seen so far, but look at it like this, lets say the US invades Russia.. Russia is almost defeated it military stands no chance anymore. The Russians can then very easily decide to at least take as many Americans as they can with them to the grave, a 100 nukes later and the US Canada and most of Europe is gone with ease.... Launch all of them and most of the western world will be completly eredicated, then there are the nukes flying the other way. China, Mongolia, Japan Korea all gone...

World war is kicking off all over, one country wants to be a ringleader or is feeling left out, she shouts out she has nukes and will use them. Everybody else gets their's out for 'defence' so at this point we have alot of countries with weapons ready to launch, sombody lets one go and we have panic, "who the **** set that off, fire back" so we have shit popping off all over the globe and im just tring to eat my McChicken Sandwhich, but im gonna get melted away. But its ok, because at least if i die in a nuclear attack my last happy thought will be that half the world went down with me.

Guess the only way to know for sure is to wait, and see.

Think of all the mayor scientific achievements we have made in the last well 5000 years... Then name one of those that wasn't created because of war.
Ever since Egypt society has developed from living in huts to building city's because of war. We even got the huts because of war. We got land because of war, culture because of war. Nuclear power because of war, highways becuase of war, airplanes because of wars, big ships because of wars. Most of our medical science is all based on what was developed in wars.
Most of what is invented is invented in wars and developed on further later on, often for the purpose of new wars. Wars have made us what we are today. Besides we humans could not live in peace, we would go insane. Maybe we could manage without wars, but country's would fall to fast and to easily governments would die faster then ever before. And even if there was peace we should fight as normal humans against other humans because we would want to prove we are better.
War is a necessary thing for a nation to prove itself with, just like fighting is for a normal human being.
