Why are we even having this discussion?

If Marvel wanted to movies to be as relevant as the comics they would make it canon, like other companies do.

how many instances have there been of characters being portrayed completely incorrect in comics...does that discredit us from using comics as well?

Are u reading what ur typing at all? What determines the correct portrayal of a character? The majority of there comics. If in a few comics the character isnt portrayed correctly then then we can discredit those particular comics for going against the characters history.

the material for the movies is supposed to be basedoff the comics. If the movies then portray something different from the comics how can we use the movies to then asses the charcaters abilities or hold them in higher regard than the comics which they are supposed to be based off?

nope. I won't. I understand the technical reasons for why movies aren't canon. I simply disagree with the reasoning behind it, but it's more a pet peeve than a issue of serious contention for me...and I'm fine accepting that movies aren't canon, although somewhat begrudgingly.

Captain America would have no head if that happened

Iron Man got punched, again Cap would've died if that happened

Captain America got a back hand and another punch that he blocked with his shield but sent him flying

so where exactly did Captain America get hit worse than what Iron Man and THor got?

Except that "disregarding" certain issues based on its "incorrect portrayal of a character" becomes a subjective act unless it is officially endorsed by the creators of the comics themselves.

The REAL canon is how the creators and writers at Marvel themselves believe the potential outcome would be. Especially Stan Lee's opinions. His opinion FAR outweighs the COMBINED opinions of everyone all over the world.

Though I do agree that movies tend to create "shortcuts" on character origins/histories/interactions just to make telling the story easier, I don't see ANY reasons why they would drift too far from actual canon when it comes to a 1v1 fight. Popularity is about seeing a character in action, not making him win in a fight. Win or lose people will buy the video.
