I think that was the best choice, even over Paris, who was the favorite I heard.

I'm really glad Paris lost, because this advertising campaign has provoked so much propaganda down here... They closed the Champs Elysees to set up tennis courts, soccer field,... so as to convince mostly the people that live in the suburbs (In Paris there are a few suburbian cities that are inhabited by middle upper-middle class people, but there are also lots of cities that stands for ghettoes for lower-class -of North African origin- people) The latter came to this event. A big TV show has been organized. The Mayor had had the city redecorated with plenty of "Paris2012" signs. There were Paris2012 signs everywhere...

They tried their best to convince the population that the Games were good,...

This was just disgusting. We Parisian don't live in the Soviet Union, do we ?

Plus this bid was mostly about lobbying, and this is traditionnally not in the French culture.
