Even though i now live in New Zealand, i was born and spent the 1st 24yrs of my life in London. Nearly all my family is there and as far as i know they are all ok. Im glad to hear none of you guys have been directly effected by this but it doesnt really make it any easier to stomach.
I agree with Stunrun about it taking the shine off of us hosting the Olympics and i hope this doesnt have an adverse effect on that. London is no stranger to terrorism and this will show the world how resilient Londoners are.

I think that people shouldn't worry about teroist so much, yes what happen yesterday was awful but more we worry the more the teroist win. But I have to say what George Gallaway said is a really bas34rd thing to say
There is a difference between worry and preparation.. The simple fact is that there are terrorists out there (of EVERY nationality) and this WILL happen again. To simply blow it off just so that ' the terrorists dont win' is naive, irresponsible and disrespectful to those who were lost and those who lost loved ones..
That said I applaud London for its actions since the bombings.. We could learn a thing or two from their handling of this tragedy.. New York did an awesome job after 9/11 but I am overwhelmed at how fast London treated the wounded, how quickly they restored & reopened the transportation systems and at the great detail the officials disclosed in the press conference this morning..
There are just no words to express how sad I feel about this horrible event...
Originally posted by bilbNo amount of preparation could of stopped what happened yesterday you cant check everyone that goes on a bus or train and I don't believe anyone wants to either. And I was not being disrepectful as I know people who were caught up in the attack yesterday. Yet it does nobody any good worry that it will happen again as it probably will. However people in England are used to Terriorist attacks so we know that life does and must go on. Fearing what might happen is what they want they want use to worry about going out and caring on with everyday life. So as a sign of respect to thous who died we as a country carry on

Would you of let Hilter win then? Millon of lifes would of been saved if thats your way of thinking. Sometimes things are worth dieing for and our personal freedoms are one of thous things.
You are right that we should try and prevent things lke this from happening but your'll never stop it all. Thou it happened yesterday it doesn't mean that the precausions the British government take aren't working. They have probably stopped hundreds of such attacks but they can't stop them all
Sorry I do not understand your logic behind the Hitler statement.. My point is that the perception of who 'wins' is subjective.. IMO if lives are saved thats a win on the most valuable level.. I could care less about saving political face in front of the world
Yes of course personal freedom is worth dying for, but the casualties from yesterdays bombings are not going to further that cause in anyway.. it was a senseless, vicious act to target innocent lives and nothing more
And yes I am quite sure lots of attacks have been thwarted,, all the more reason to continue to at least TRY to stop these types of events in the future if at all possible altho I do agree there is no way to stop them all
The only way you can prevent an attack on the London Underground is by intelligence reports.
If a man wakes up and decides "I'm going to bomb the LU" nobody is able to stop him. Because anyone who knows the LU knows that it's so open, with millions using it. People carrying bags to the gym, to work, to friends house, anything. It's nigh impossible to search them all. If someone decided they were just gonna take a bomb in there and do it, they could and they wouldn't be stopped.
When it's terrorism, the only hope is intelligence. Finding out who they are, what they plan to do, where they are hiding or producing these bombs and stopping it.
Whoever said personal freedom is worth dying for: Hahahaha.
Unless you yourself are absolutely ready to give your life for my freedom and everyone else, you have no right saying that. Because freedom means shit if you're dead.

To be honest in a way its a relief its happened - before we were waiting for it to happen and to be honest i thought it would be worse. Although what happened is horrific, it could have been so much worse. Hopefully thats it for the time being and we wont have another bombing for a bit. I guess though if it'd been my family members that'd died i wouldnt be so 'ok' with it.
