I was worried for my Bro he was at bank, my cousin Jim was at Covent Garden I was miles out in Bromley. Glad you got home ok mate.

I think the most disrespectful thing is that Blair has said "We won't let this grind us down."

Quite disrespectful. Tell that to the families.

I saw the news a few hours ago, people were using trains, buses. It pleases me because unlike New Yorkers and most Americans - and I mean NO, I repeat, NO disrespect by this - we're quite clearly not gonna spend the next two years shaking in a our boots over some shits who can't do anything upfront.

Yes it's a fairly scary idea, but it seems that London has decided "We're gonna keep moving". Not the PM. Maybe this time he's start realising that he needs to start listening to the people in this country, not the president of the other.

Whilst the alliance between US and UK has brought great things, this is more like something out of Mean Girls. But with ultra lives at risk.

No way out unless Blair grows some balls and says "This is a bit shit, bailing out." Or Bush actually decides to see reason. Which is as likely as the Sun giving you frostbite.

Well we are used to it Alpha we have only just got over the IRA even though Blair in reality capitulated to them.

good points AC

i think its very ironic that the PM states that this wont change the way we live our lives but constantly tries to justify imposing ridiculous legislation on the people on the back of terrorist threats

he seems to be the one who is trying to change the way we live our lives...where as the terrorists...contrary to what the idiots on the news say about them wanting to strike fear into our hearts, actually only want to kill as many people as possible and would rather have the terrified people dead as opposed to scared

if that makes any sense

Exactly.

The IRA were all we had to worry about and that was coming to a controlled state also.

It's like Chris Rock says: "Republicans say you've got a high chance of being in a terrorist attack even on your way to work. That we're never safe. We were fine till they came along."

-AC

but then while i don't like the governments hypocrisy in what they say about the way we should lead our lives...i do however think thats its correct to try and fight against terrorism than to take the easy route of ignoring it and hoping they wont attack us

imagine our world now if we as a nation done that very thing in a historical context...sat by and watched Hitlers Germany exterminate everyone who they believed didn't suit their social agenda

while islamic terrorism is obviously not on the same scale, it follows the same mentallity...

islamic fundamentalists dont attack purely out of reaction to what we are doing in iraq (although i'm not saying that isn't part of the reason) but thier doctrine over the past 20+ years has been that anyone involved in politics is trying to take power that belongs to God (Allah) and therefor is a legitimate target for killing

you cant barter with that kind of belief...you cant ignore the people who kill in the name of that belief...you have to tackle it...
and thats where the difficult desicions have to be made and thats where mistakes have been made over the past few years

but then the issues brought up at the G8 are addressing what is one of the driving sources of global terrorism towards the west...and the experts overwhelmingly agree that issue is poverty

one thing i found very ironic and frankly hilarious about the whole ID card debacle is that the biometrics proposed to be used are finger prints and retina scans...and one of the main issues they are supposed to tackle is islamic extremism backed terror...from the likes of abu hamza

so can anyone tell me the flaw in the argument after looking at this picture of abu hamza?

😆

The world must be protected from pirates......

Hmm some interesting reporting here in Canada. They talk to people on the streets and they say nothing can happen here, but if it does i think public panic would set in and many mistakes could be made. We have a completely different mentality here. Most think "we are peacekeepers so they won't attack us." One Toronto official said "they have to find us on the map before they attack us."

Also i am still hearing death toll at 38. Is this a confirmed death toll of 57??

wasnt there some sort of scare there too?...i heard a tiny bit about covent garden in the early stages of the incident and then never heard anything again...probably just some confusion in amongst all the craziness

its not too far from Russel SQ, where one of the bombings took place

7/7 doesn't have the same ring as 9/11 😬

wait a minute .....

The Psalms 7:7 goes :

The meeting of the nations will be round you; take your seat, then, over them, on high.

The meeting of Nations could signify the G8 meeting....

thoughts ? anyone ?

i cant begin to contemplate how saddened i was when 9/11 happened, but this was also a terrible tragedy - not just for the people of London, but for the rest of the world. Please take that into consideration, because i am NOT in a happy mood
