I think if people keep up bringing up this divide between people who were here before and new members, then it will be very hard for the older members...things move on it's the way of life..if people keep trying to maintain this divide then things will get worse...just have to accept that new people will join and things will change..but it doesn't have to be a bad thing..
so there's my two pennies 😮

I have to disagree : even though member tend to mess things up in the Movie Reviews forum , a review is definitely NOT a discussion. First, a simple movie can raise many different questions that can't be dealt in one thread. Look at the Matrix forum (there used to be even a Matrix philosophy sub-forum).
Discussing a movie is not just about kwowing whether people think it's a good or a bad movie. That is why the MR section is not really a discussion section : it's a forum dedicated to "portraying" the film so that any member can know what it is about and what it is worth.
That's why you can have a thread open in the MR section and several in the MD forum. People were only discussing (arguing) in the Movie Reviews forum, because there was no more modding in that section to make things right. So the idea of a review had kinda faded.
A review is not limited to the statement saying whether a movie is good or bad. It's about the questions raised, the questions dealt with in a movies, the quality of the various processes or elements that make the movie (Editing, directing, acting, photography, music...), what the director meant,... You can even make a review without saying explicitely words like good/bad and words like that.
The first post was a review, then it deviated into a discussion, that is when people actually started the thread with an actual review. Despite what it was dedicated for, nobody used it for that. That's why it was closed. People can still review movies in the MDF, anyway. I mean, I personally know how to write a concise review, very few others did, failed to do so in the MRF, so it was closed.

We were all n00bs at one time or another.
In the sense of seniority. I had an impact on KMC as soon as I got here. Hell, I was made a mod after only 9 months.. 😛
The current state of KMC?
Mediocre. Some good, some bad, some areas I don't visit. 🙂
Why?
Stagnation. The OTF is completely retarded--and I don't just mean 'stupid', but, literally, 'mentally handicapped'--and every thread on the GDF about current events, in general, turns into an anti-Bush thread.
Every other thread in the Star Wars EU forum is "Who is more powerful: Revan vs. [Character]?" and "Make a Jedi!".
The General Fiction Area is all poorly-written slop that isn't worthy to be used as fodder in a trough. And Harry Potter fanfics that fit into the preceding category.
The Religion forum is dying, as is the Spider-Man forum. The comics seem to be doing alright, from what I've seen when I visit (a rare occurrence).
Of course, I don't visit that many of the forums, so I can't be an overall judge. But those are my observations so far...
Oh, yeah, and the jackasses who come on to the boards and post shit, thinking that they can say whatever the hell they want (Darth Odious and Sniper_sloth come to mind, as do a few others like Carnage009).
It's like on the Fires of Heaven boards: the '05ers suck.

No kidding. It also seems like every other new registered member has "Darth" or "Kenobi" in their username. No offense, Ken - you're the O.K. (original Kenobi).

I think that the ROG forums are good. Except that Ush is never in the Hosted and Unhosted. Hes ussaly in the Star Wars. Whcich is fine, but we need someone to get in those and say OK to ideas. Most people dont even have permission and are starting there own threads because he is never there to say no. I think we need another mod, or sub mod, as proposed in the thread to help clear up the idea flow.Ush said he wouldnt go through the last 20 pages so we had to re explain an idea. I understand that people go on vacation, but there needs to be a second mod.
Agreed. The Unhosted RPG section is an utter mess.
