This is a good question, just like JRLTENJAC said, look at all the others who survived great falls. How come Windu couldn't? But because we never see him agian, a lot of people assume he's dead. Coruscant has like 50 billion in habitants, and if the Sith Lords could have their base of operations on the same planet as the Jedi Temple---then I'm sure there could be Jedi survivors living in Coruscant's lower levels.

Here's an important thing to keep in mind... if Windu could survive his hand dismemberment and fall, it takes a lot away from the fact that Luke managed to do so in ESB... The whole point of that was to show how fortunate he was to survive... even then he needed help!
