George Lucas: Windu fights mostly against Sidious with his light saber. Anakin just comes in at the end and cuts off Windu’s hand. Then Sidious uses Force lightning to throw Windu out of a window. Windu had beaten Sidious before Anakin intervened, but it was fate for Windu to die instead of Sidious. In addition, the fate of the Jedi Master and the Sith Lord depends on your imaginations.

So it's up to what we think, preferebly in my opinion Master Windu had him Sidious beat. Which is what George says, **BUT it all depends on our imaginations. And if you don't believe that George Lucas' statement was true, look at the web site I posted in the begining of my post.
**REMEMBER the force was not with the light-side in the prequels, but it was with it in the last three episods(4,5,6).
**PLUS Mace Windu was not trying to kill Sidious, but arrest him at first(meaning he wasn't giving his greatest fight with Sidious, just enough to knoch him down), he only attempted to kill him after Sidious' force lightning was used, becuase that was a great threat. (The force I mean.)
