You can't give a hip-hop virgin Ox and El-P, their ears will die ❌I think Zion I are good ice breakers, a lot of their songs have a very mainstream sound, except with much better lyrics and real soul vocalists to sing the hooks. Their newest album sounds like Kanye West possessed by The Roots.
I love making people listen to True & Livin 😊
Zion I is a good suggestion.. good yet traditional and easy to get into. Same with Jurassic 5, People Under The Stairs, De La Soul, ect. And some people disagree but I think Tribe Called Quest are really catchy and pretty easy to get into. Some people say they're boring though..

Pharcyde is easy to get into for new comers
Yeah, first two albums are great for beginners and vets alike, but post-Lip & Tre they've descended into mediocrity.
A Tribe Called Quest (not boring, slay all that say different)
Jurassic 5
The Pharcyde
De La Soul
The Roots
Ice Cube
Wu-Tang
Public Enemy
Slick Rick
NWA
Black Moon
Ultramagnetic MC's
Biz Markie
Run DMC
Blackalicious
Zion I
Freestyle Fellowship
I can't remember for who's benefit this whole discussion is actually for, but hell. Right there's the foundation.

a question that has perplexed me for years. why do people enjoy listening to that horrid excuse for music. i mean, how is rap still popular after like 20 years of straight "sex with many anonymous partners", "do drugs till we die", Pimps, bitches and hoes, and killing each other. not to mention continuous distasteful profanity. Rappers have no talent. if you watch any live footage of a rap "concert", the rapper just looks bored passing back and forth on the stage. at least with real bands, they have fun when they perform. and rap is mostly pop these days. all the preps and jocks love rap.
bottom line: rap is the bane of my existencefeel free to express your opinions.......
Finally!! There is another who agrees with me that you cant say "crap" without "rap" 💃

Wow. You're really ignorant.
I, personally, can't stand rap music but I don't go around saying how much it sucks. Just because you don't like it, does not mean it isn't good.
I understand the lyrics aren't that great, and I don't see a point to half the songs. But a lot of people do like it and you need to respect that. It's not right going around saying rappers have no talent. I'd like to see you get up there.
As long as someone likes it, there is no such thing as bad or crappy music.

I know there are a lot of rap and hip hop songs with really powerful lyrics but I was pretty much talking about the mainstream hip hop that has pointless lyrics. While I like to keep an open mind, I just really can't get into that kind of music so I don't really listen to it that much.
