edit: oh, i did like the ending between rukia and ichigo, not drawn out, and not incredibly sappy. though in the anime it will probably be both those things...is it just me or do they tend to make it worse somehow in the anime for this show?
I don't think that's the end of the series, just the arc. Otherwise why have a 2 week haitus before continuing?

How does this even make sense? They've obviously had captain turnover in the past.
And it's also quite obvious they weren't fighting at full, some captains only even got temporarily taken down due to not using their bankais and the like, and at least one of their strongest never even joined the fray. Sure, Ichigo ended up saving the day, but I didn't get the impression they needed him.
