How the **** does Hollow Ichigo have another blood-type than Ichigo and why are the Japanese so damn fixated about this one (or technically two for AB) type of protein recognition string covering the surface of blood cells?

I mean if you want to go into detail there's also a Rh+, M and a lot of other protein recognition strings at the surface of the blood cells which has just as much of an impact as A and B.

It's not as if it would affect behavior or something like that.

Espada #9 definitely wasn't an Vasto Lorde considering that he didn't meet the human appearance standard of a Vasto Lorde.

Harribel was confirmed to be a Vasto Lorde before Aizen turned her into an Espada.

Grimmjow's Gillian appearance was that of a panther and is most likely a Vasto Lorde.

Before Grimmjow became an Arrancar, he was a confirmed Adjuchas (that panther form you are referring to), while Espada #9 was a confirmed Gillian before he became an Arrancar.

Based on that, everyone except for Espada #9 was either an Adjuchas or a Vasto Lorde. In addition, Espadas #1-3 were definitely Vasto Lorde while Espadas #0, 4 & 5 are not confirmed to be Vasto Lorde, but based on Ulquiorra's level of power, it's safe to say he was a Vasto Lorde as well.

Looking back at it I can't find any evidence suggesting that any of the Espada were actually Vasto Lorde-level.

The only hint we are given is that they look human. However, after a Hollow becomes an Arrancar even the Gillian looks human, see Arrancar #11 and co.

Apparently Harribel was only a Vasto Lorde in the anime.

After all, the captains proved to be more than a mach for the top tiers in the Espada.

Then again they might be Vasto Lorde-level.
