No, but as you said, we are currently at the 'build up' stage of the manga, as opposed to the much more engaging confrontation part that Bleach is at. The build up is necessary, but still not the most important or interesting part of the story. Just replace the word 'filler' with 'build up parts' and you've got the same thing.

Ah but the thing is we aren't at any build up stage here. This is build up. What we're seeing now is pay off.

Plus I actually give a shit about whats happening with Bleach. Naruto not so much. Narutos in no danger, and neither are any side characters as of yet. Hell, at the moment, no one on the Shinobi side has died or even been that injured yet. Bleach just has more dramatic tension to it at the moment. Serious shit is going down right now. Main plot shit. Narutos on side character shit.

Ah but you said you were hating Naruto at the moment so it is a very good thing that he is not being followed much. Not to mention Naruto runs on side character shit half the time. And even though the new Bleach villain is doing something cool, you know none of them are gonna die either. At least Naruto had 40,000 deaths, off screen though they might have been.

Oh. Really? Ok then these chapters just kinda suck then without the build up excuse.

No. Naruto should just be written better, like Ichigo is being right now.

Side characters are side characters for a reason. They have little impact on the story at all.

Bullshit. Of course the heroes are going to win. 99.999% of stories go that route. That doesn't strip the story of dramatic tension. Right now all of Ichigo's friends and family are in imminent danger and he even has to fight a few. Theres weight to that. Theres the feeling that maybe someones going to die. Bullshit again on you saying they won't.the way things are going its looking more and more likely. Now Naruto? Gaara used an attack. Gaara's dad blocked it. Old man did an atack. Blocked. Theres no tension there. Neither side is in danger.

Mook deaths don't count.

Not really. We got build up, now we're getting pay off. In the Naruto thread, I believe someone asked when we would get to the Kage fight. Lo and behold we're there. I'm not really seeing much of a problem with it.

I dunno. Both gais just want to stop the bad guys. Ichigo is just in a more personal fix.

And yet, Naruto has made a habit out of devoting much of it's time to side characters. And people like that.

Ah, but you see I'm not judging it by the standards of other stories. I'm judging it by the standards of a Bleach fan. And Bleach has a habit of constantly undermining it's own tension. Not that there isn't currently some tension, just I don't see it amounting to anything. And yeah, Naruto had no one dying at the beginning of a fight. What with that being anticlimactic and all, that is in fact a good thing.

Quite. We see Muu vs Onoki and Gaara vs His Dad clash just as warmups. It's a meeting encounter that leads to rising tension.

Also, Bleach has some great side characters. That they rarely end up doing anything important is a shame.

---
Ichigo... don't go in the house! It doesn't have to have traps for that to be stupid. And it was stupid.

Well the side characters of Bleach do kill the Espada members. Which is still not a good thing when considering the Espada hype.

It was trapped though. Good thing nobody but Ginjou knows how to fight out of that entire gang.

I never said there was a problem with it until you made a big deal out of this. I merely said that Bleach has been more engaging lately. Apparently you took offense to that.

And going just from this chapter the fights so far has been lame. I know its only been the first part, but guess what? So has the Bleach fight. And this is better so far. Better build up, better execution. I mean, this fight was built up to some 10-20 chapters ago in a few pages. Colour me unimpressed.

I dunno. Both gais just want to stop the bad guys. Ichigo is just in a more personal fix.

Personal > Impersonal 99.99% of the time.

Well thats your problem. I don't know why you're jumping on me when your own feeling are 'Im just not feeling it.' Just disagree dude.

You don't need to have someone die to create tension. 🙄

This is like the first time we've seen Ichigo acting ruthless.

Tsukishima > Aizen, clearly.

You said Bleach was the best of the three, not the most engaging young one. The two are far from the same. 😉

Ah but Bleach has the problems of being at a much lower scale than the current Naruto fight. Ironic actually considering the two. And possibly better build up considering the fact that the bad guys are turning the good guys against Ichigo(Not that Kabuto isn't doing that though) but the execution seems sloppy to say the least.

Actually, I was stupid in saying that. It is very personal for Naruto. This is the guy that killed his parents and started using his best friend against him.

I obviously disagree. But without reasons, that makes for a rather poor conversation. I didn't think I had given you the impression that I was jumping onto you so I apologize I suppose.

Indeed, but that was the impression I got. I still don't see how no one in Division 4 is in danger. Gaara and Onoki have Yondaime and Muu in toe but two other Kage ninja are still there and no one can really fight evenly with them. Still plenty of danger.

Hollow Ichigo count? vin

Eh, perhaps. He is better than Decide Arc Aizen. Not Soul Society Aizen though. Cause he was too kewl for skewl.

Nahh. Ichigo wasn't in control of himself at that time.

Aizen until the Deicide arc was too kewl for skewl. After that, he became a nut-job.
But I digress, Aizen couldn't mind-f*** Ichigo & cause him to go berserk, even after he revealed that he had basically conceptualized Ichigo; Tsukishima has done it with just a bookmark. vin

have to admit, Ichigo certainly is being much more aggressive now than before, well before he obtained his FGT form anyway.

yeah, I see what you mean by sloppy, TheAuraAngel, Kubo seems to be rushing it.

Even with his FGT tech, Ichigo still kept his composure. Right now, the dude looks like he has snapped.

Right on both points.

Though ironically, ruthless doesn't benefit him here. As soon as he noticed the rest where there, he should've retreated so as to fight without them around.

If he retreated he'd be leaving his friends with Tsukishima.

Who knows how that'd turn out.

He already left his friends with Tsukishima before, they've had a lot of time together.

This chapter was awesome.

And, yes, it was more awesome than the Naruto chapter. That's saying something because I REALLY liked the Naruto chapter.

Ichigo has two panels in this chapter which are super awesome and requote-able. 🙂

Also, Ichigo striking first and asking questions later is really cool. He isn't "losing his sh*t", though, as some of you stated. After his initial strikes, he offers him the chance to explain himself.

Also, Ichigo is all spidermonkey n'sh*t, like a madman. 😄

Eh, maybe it's cause I don't much care for Ichigo that I can't appreciate the chapter. Or maybe the 2nd Mizukage's awesome just completely eclipses him? 😛

I will admit though, this is a good arc for Bleach. A bit sudden but damn good. I still love the Soul Society arc of course.

Yup, at the end of the day, it's all opinion. I am consistantly faulted for my opinions on films. People say I have bad taste...but really, the movies I like that they hate are the exceptions: generally, I have a large overlap in the movies I like, with their's. It makes it funny because they make fun of their tastes by making of my own.

Kubo is making me like Bleach again.

I hate him for that.

though, he was pretty merciless against Grimmjow in the end.
