When's Kubo done anything that's made sense....he did make the father time dude Hulk out with no real reason other than he could do it.
Uh....I'm guessing there's a hyperbolic time chamber in SS cause these guys shouldn't have gotten that strong in just a year. The landscape leveling was kind of stupid but at least I got a panel of fanservice out of it. 😄
I do not see a massive strength increase from Renji. It's significant, but not massive. Renji already has plenty of nice environ-strength destruction feats.
However, we can honestly say that Renji is on low captain level, now. Before, he was really high lieutenant level.
Here's something that needs to be pointed out: Renji and Rukia trained for years...like...really hard. Yet, they didn't get a significant power boost ever. So putting a giant power boost on Renji in just 17 months is a bit out of place. True that Kubo can retcon his own work and pretend that the decades Renji and Rukia trained their butts off pales in just 17 months of training...
But, it's like a hyperbolic time chamber thing.
Granted, Ichigo got a significant boost in power when he trained for 3 days but that was due to already have a ginormous supply of reiryoku (Naruto, anyone?). So he just honed his natural abilities.
Anyway, I liked Bleach waaaaaaaaaaaay more than Naruto this week. I want to read more Bleach. 🙁

Here's another thing people seem to be forgetting. They're all at 1/5th of their strength. kruemelmonsteryn0
Unless of course, Kubo has completely forgotten about the Limiters, or SS judges Ginjo to be a threat on the level of Aizen.

Eh, he could just mean that he wanted to be able to combat threats as powerful as Aizen, not Aizen himself.
Also, I already put that smilie in long ago. kruemelmonsteryn0
Alt line: "I've met Yoruichi, Unohana, and Soi Fon, and you've got nothing on them."
Dirty Boot's habit of telling people how to fight at the start of a fight is just bad, just like it was with time guy. It's not intimidating, and it's like advertising, "Hey, I'm not taking into account your reactions to my strength in my fighting."

I think it's a combination of 'getting stronger when fighting strong foes,' and 'having an intense reason to need it, rather than just a desire.'
Renji was working on his bankai for some time pre-series apparently, and he did achieve it during the SS arc.
And those years of training are why they're both two of the stronger Lt level people. Rukia's impressively strong but I don't think any of her improvement was during the series, so that was all from her old training probably.
So let's look at the fights here.
Kenpachi vs Time Guy: One shot, dead.
Ikkaku vs Stupid Kid: Kid punches Ikkaku, does jack.
Renji vs Dirty ****: Pwns here with the butt of his sword. One hit.
Byakuya vs Cool Guy: Will be over in one hit. One way or the other. So I guess I can't complain that much here.
Rukia vs Materialistic Horder: Being played for laughs but the only fight where the Fullbringer seems to be at the advantage. But against my favorite character, so this is crap.
So the fight between Ichigo/Ishida and Ginjo will be the only good one. And even then, it's only cause it's been forever since the two of them worked together to beat an opponent.
