I hope they have the ability to suppress bankai -- technically it seems as if they're using some sort of device, but still -- mainly because that would add another dimension to the norm of conflicts being resolved by sheer force.

I'd probably look for the Japanese chapter and translate it myself. But I have an assignment on proving that Yang's theorem doesn't apply in magnetic fields which is due Monday. I swear, every week we get an assignment requesting ten pages worth of analysis and equation crunching, and that's not including deducing this crap. I barely have time to go on forums anymore. **** my life!

i'm so confused.

hmm, interesting. these new enemies appear to be able to make bankais vanish. either that or that lieutenant's words implied something else. either way, it would still make for an interesting conflict to come.

anyone else think that the dude at the end of the chapter may possibly be able to give Yamamoto a fight?

Considering Quincy powers work by drawing in reitsu from your surroundings, being able to absorb Bankai's does makes a certain amount of sense if you just weaponise that concept. Assuming these guys are Quincy.

Final Form Uryu should have been able to absorb Mayuri and his Bankai. Damn Kubo for not knowing what he created. stoned

I'm just going to emphasize my point, because some seem to think that Chōjirō Sasakibe said that these new villains could use bankai.

But this is what we got.

To me it just seems like Chōjirō is slurring his words, having been beaten to a pulp and all. But what he's trying to get across is that they can suppress bankai. Why? Because right after that scene we get this piece of exposition.

Besides, they're quincies. They have their own neat tricks. Even the arrancar called their power-ups "resurrección", so I don't see why these new villains would use bankai.

Soo...the big bads are supposed to be Super-Quinces? I guess it could be worse. I'd personally like for Ryuken and Uryu to actually be relevant if these guys are quinces.

At least the boss doesn't look like an Aizen clone.

He reminds me of Zangetsu. :T

He does kind of look like him. I must say that's a pretty cool looking beard he's sporting.

I think that guy Ivan wasn't strong enough to stop and negate Ichigo's bankai.

But I wonder, if Chojiro knows they can stop a bankai, does that mean he has reached second release? I'm thinking he has.

Excellent point. It could also mean that they told him.

you think the guy we just finished trashing 'cause he hasn't done squat the entire series, performed bankai off panel?

It could be that he was saying they can do Bankai, but that the way they learn to do it is by stealing the Bankai's of others. Didn't a squad go missing?

All the new villains we have seen but the apparent big bad look kind of lame IMO.

I am glad Chojiro is not dead, maybe now he will get the chance to do shit.

I am guessing they can supress Bankai, which, as Neph said, makes sense consider Quincy nonsense.
