I prefer these kinds of death scenes over the melodramatic Aeris variants.

Would not have minded him being disrespected during his death because it would change things up. The problem was that the color page really indicated that he would have an honorable death, like Whitebeard or Hiruzen. And I really don't care for Soul Society's destruction being put in the same chapter when both events are pretty momentous.

You'd prefer it if Kubo stretched things out even more?

That furst one is a valid complaint. Aura's just being a ***** though.

I dunno, I think that "too much shit is going on" is a valid complaint... But not one I feel applies to the last few chapters.

It can be, but One Piece manages to juggle 4 plots a week and it's still good imo.
