It was pretty cool indeed. That being said, I don't really mind the ending since that guy was thinking of Kenpachi as a monster that would kill him. And thanks to his Quincy power, that is exactly what happened.
AHHHH! I see!
Thanks for this explanation. It makes sense, now, that he thought Kenpachi would kill him so when he imagined himself to be Kenpachi (strong enough to compete with Kenpachi), he was also thinking that Kenpachi could kill him at the same time.
These two ideas clashed and manifested at the same time, killing him.
If we notice his body, all the damage we see is from previous slashes that Kenpachi had delivered.
But, like we were saying, before, the boy had a shitty imagination. He kind of sucked. I believe there is a clear limit to what he can imagine. If he didn't have a limit, then he would be pretty much omnipotent (up to a certain scale because he required 2 bodies to imagine that giant asteroid). I think one of his other limitations is imagining people dead. It would appear that he cannot imagine people dead if they are conscious. Something about the other party being powerful prevents him from directly imagining stuff about their body. My thinking here is the opponent (in this case, Kenpachi) can be immune to any direct imagination techniques because of how strong their rieryoku (or reiatsu) is. If they are strong enough, his techniques cannot directly affect his opponent. This should have been explained two chapters ago, imo. If Kubo would have added just a single damn line, that would have helped with this giant CIS. Something like the following, "My spirit power is weaker than his so I cannot imagine anything directly about this monster's body."
That could have been a thought he had to himself, too. Just something like that so we don't get frustrated with this CIS. 🙁
