Then we're talking about particular individuals. Not just a whole mass of people with a faith, right?

Well, I guess, but then it changes your faith and you become a heretic...It's kinda hard calling yourself a Christian when you don't agree with main stream Christianity....What would a person call themselves????.

How about an Independant Christian?

How about an Independant Christian?
now that sounds like a real contradiction 😉

If you don't believe doctrine without question you be labeled a heretic.

😆 ....kinda hedonistic...People look at you differently....especially when you laugh at really sick, but funny jokes.....

Right, anyone that separates or becomes independent of a certain branch of a religion (let's say christianity) will be label as heretic. Didn't Martin Luther separated himself from the church to provide reforms and remained a Christian? There you have it.

finti-I was thinking more of a separation of church not of faith. But I understand your point in my contradiciton.

i was joking

I think someone could by free will follow something, and choose it after acquiring the information of what is that doctrine about, and "thinking" (yea.. thats the keyword) about it, using your brain to analyze the acquired information, and trying to see the coherence of that doctrine by yourself. Then if you cannot find a coherence, and something looks really without meaning for you, then you can just discard it, or think of it another day if you re not sure. I just don´t like the idea of acquiring information, and accepting it without questioning, or without the use of any discriminative process. Accept things without questioning is what a computer does, you write a command line, and it does .

It's funny, cause when attending a church of a different denomination and your view is different even in a little way...like the Once saved only saved....Or just pray and Jesus will protect the children....teaching their children to pray that....really made me mad....cause, it's a lie, but if you don't agree then everyone jumps down your throat...

Many people who were viewed as heretics by some people but not by others, have started their own religions.

I love to joke around

The generalisation makes the question flawed.

No it doesn't...because once you change your view....you can no longer be called a Christian.....Well, depending on what exactly you believe.

According to the church, the act of baptism imparts an indelible seal upon the soul of the baptized. The union established between the person baptized and god is unbreakable. God remains faithful to the covenant made with us in baptism even when we are not. Full membership.

Then your church teaches "Once saved Always Saved."...But there are verses that are contrary to that belief...Like your name being crossed out of the book of life, and Paul saying that if you bring a sinner back, you are saving him the flames of hell kind of thing...

It's almost a view of predestination...That god knows from the very beginning who is going to chose him or not...and you get baptised to seal you into a Covenant....That's flawed too...

And that' s where the contradictions come into play again.

Looks like the poll is half and half....But truly, if you believe that the Bible is THE WORD OF GOD, and hasn''t been altered, then you have lost your free will to look outside that box...Because to look in other places is just satan trying to confuse you....
